' LATEST ON CARDIFF TARGET ROBERT HUTH '
The Bluebirds boss has enquired about a loan deal for 6ft 3ins German international defender Robert Huth at Stoke.
Stoke are prepared to let Huth out on loan, but will want a substantial part of his Premier League wages to be paid by his new club.
Huth, though, is keen to stay in the Premier and is unlikely to be rushed into an early decision this week.
He has, though, played scarcely any Premier League matches since November 2013 after suffering a knee ligament injury
Slade could see Huth, who is not in manager Mark Hughes’ plans at Stoke, as an ideal partner for Bruno Manga, currently on his way back from the Africa Cup of Nations, in the quest to ensure City have a solid back five unit.
Huth and Manga could be playing alongside each other as early as this Saturday against Derby County at home if all goes well.
Talks continue with Stoke about Huth, who has played only three minutes of Premier League football for Stoke this season, while Manga is on his way back to South Wales after Gabon lost 2-0 against Equatorial Guinea.
Cardiff are also keen on a midfield player currently with a Premier League club, while Slade wants to sign a striker now that Adam Le Fondre has joined Bolton on loan.
