Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay expected to be cleared of involvement in racist, sexist and homophobic messages - reports

By Alex Bywater
Mackay has been the subject of a Football Association since the emergence of a string of exchanges between the Scot and Iain Moody
Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is expected to be cleared of involvement in racist, sexist and homophobic messages by the end of the week, according to reports.
Mackay, now in charge of Championship strugglers Wigan, is the subject of an FA investigation for his involvement in a series of messages sent during his time as Bluebirds boss.
The FA, who have been investigating the affair for nearly six months, are close to concluding their in-depth analysis with reports in The Sunday Times suggesting the Scot is likely to walk away without punishment.
Mackay is being investigated over messages, texts and emails sent to Iain Moody, his former director of football at the Bluebirds.
The racist and homophobic nature of the messages sent between the two is recognised by the length of the investigation being undertaken by the FA.

But after analysing more than 10,000 messages and 70,000 documents provided by Cardiff, the FA look set to absolve Mackay of any crime.
Such a move would undoubtedly be controversial though it is believed the FA are constrained by a policy of not being able to act on communications sent privately between two individuals.
The emergence of the messages cost Mackay the manager's job at Crystal Palace, with the Scotsman forced to issue a grovelling apology.
At the time, the League Managers Association claimed the email and text exchange was just “friendly banter” while Moody has since apologised himself.
Moody broke his silence, telling a Crystal Palace fanzine “good people sometimes do bad things” in an interview earlier this month.

Good for him. I imagine he'll celebrate with a nice Chinese. By a strange coincidence, his nearest restaurant in Wigan is called 'The Gay Snake'.

He admitted to being a racist and the only reason he's getting off is because they set a precedent with scudamore and his private e.mails.
Makes a mockery out of their kick racism out of football campaign.
Perhaps they can change their motif to keep racism publicly out of football and underneath in small letters in private let the chinks have it

Agree the headline on this is a bit misleading should be "guilty of being as private racist but fa can't do anything about it "

Correct. A 'nothing to be charged with' (rather than not guilty) was alluded to very early on in the process, so no big surprise with this outcome
Perhaps we can
ALL move on now!

I would 100% say he is a racist and a bully to add.
If the FA doesnt charge him that doesnt mean anything as we have seen with Scudamore before. Malky is a disgrace to football.

no, its the fact that the texts were 'private' and not intentionally made public that will save mackay.
mackay himself called for 'zero tolerance' of racism and condemned those who make racist comments as having no place in the game. unfortunately there is tolerance of racism as long as its 'private', thats what we've learnt from this episode.
its fine though, because he's doing 'diversity training'. give me strength

If you don't like reading people's opinions maybe a message board isn't the place for you

Where did I say that I didn't enjoy reading anyone's opinion? However if you don't like reading my opinion then perhaps a message board isn't the place for you.
