' JOHN BRAYFORD & ADAM LE FONDRE ON THEIR WAY '

Thu Jan 22, 2015 3:22 pm

As expected...

Sheffield United have tabled a £1.5m bid for Bluebirds defender John Brayford Sky understands Russell Slade will listen to offers for striker Adam Le Fondre.

Two of Russell Slade's Cardiff City stalwarts, John Brayford and Adam Le Fondre, could both be on their way out of Cardiff City.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=150707

Thursday 22nd Jan 2015.

Manager Slade has made full-back Brayford and striker Le Fondre two of his main players since coming on board as boss.

However, Sheffield United want Brayford and Blade boss Nigel Clough has moved in with a sixth enquiry and an improved offer believed to be in the region of £1.5m.

That’s around the same as Cardiff paid for him two years ago.

Sheffield United have had an earlier offer rejected during this transfer window, while they made a number of enquiries last summer when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge.

Slade has spoken to Brayford, 27, about Clough’s interest and the player has been given time to think about his future.

Brayford played on the left of the back four during the 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough in midweek, while Cardiff have moved to strengthen in the full-back areas by signing Scott Malone from Millwall and enquiring about Huddersfield’s Lee Peltier.

If Brayford does make a move to Sheffield that could trigger the Peltier transfer.

Le Fondre, 28, appears unsettled after being left out of the starting line-up at Middlesbrough when Kadeem Harris supported main striker Alex Revell.

Slade has stuck with Le Fondre, but the former Premier League forward has netted only twice in 16 appearances since the manager took charge and is low on confidence.

A source at Cardiff City revealed that they will listen to offers for Le Fondre and could let him to go out on loan.

Huddersfield badly need to sign a striker and have been linked with moves for Cardiff duo Le Fondre and Nicky Maynard.

There could be five senior players moving on from Cardiff in search of regular first team football between now and the end of this transfer window on February 2.

Brayford, Le Fondre, Guido Burgstaller, Kim Bo-Kyung and Maynard are all being linked with moves.

Slade is also keen to bring a couple of players in with a midfield leader and a striker among his priorities.

there's some pretty radical changes going on at CCFC.

players going out for knockdown fees and being replaced by cheaper players that will hopefully do better on half the money. will this policy deliver results? we'll have to wait and see.

Slade has lost the plot
The position in the league that the bluebirds are in now
How can you afford to let one of your best defenders go ?
The talk about signing a Huddersfield town reserve to take his place beggars belief
Looks like we're building a team to hold their own in division one to me
This man is a total and utter useless prick who should never be a manager at this level
As far as I'm concerned the sooner he goes with Scott Young with him the better
It was bad enough when we had Alan Durban here and had to endure 2 relegations without having another tw*t here to do the same
Please resign Slade now or otherwise the fans will force you to leave and I can assure you it won't be pleasant for you

well im one fan who want force any one out ffs
fans wanted ole out and look where we are now
sacking slade would put us even further back
time fans realised each new manager wants/needs their own players /playing their way that sadly takes time
ole couldn't/wouldn't work with some of malkys players ,got his own in to play his way got sacked
slade cant /wont work with oles players ,is trying to get his own type /systems in and you want him sacked .
a new manager coming in now would want his type/system and would put us back another 6 months at least
imo for what its worth the only time to bring in new managers is before the season starts ,
there are obvious exceptions ie when teams are in the bottom3 it can work but not guaranteed :bluescarf:

The club is going backwards at a rapid rate of knots! All the better players are going and are being replaced with bargain players not of the same quality as though in the squad at the start of the season.

Surely you go into the transfer market too strengthen rather than weaken but its clear that the club are having a major cost cutting exercise which could COST us with relegation at this rate.

I wonder if Brayford actually wanted out. He was very happy with the Blades and Clough has kept on bidding for him. I think Theo is just as good. Peltier was highly rated, but has lost his way. He was superb for Leicester against us two seasons back.

Brayford was on loan at Sheffield United last season, and did well. Was hugely popular up there. Suspect that's where his heart is, plus a chance to play for Nigel Clough again. All seems a bit inevitable. Wish him well. Always very professional with us, even though he wasn't always treated well.

This is exactly what I was told last Summer, & was surprised he didn't go then. It must also be remembered that he was one of MM's last signings before our Premiership season, so I guess he's on a high wedge with us,,,,same as ALF, who huffs & puffs, but doesn't do the business hes paid to do.

It's like a never ending circle. If Slade gets sacked now our next manager will get rid of all his signings and bring in his own, then when he gets sacked...

No player can settle at this club until we have a decent manager.

If Brayford is sold that will be it for me. No season ticket next season and no season ticket until Slade and Young have gone.
P.S. Regular since 1959, occasional in the early '50's.

I'm not bothered who goes or signs until slade goes as he can't manage them anyway.

Losing Brayford seems odd.

Brayford was probaly the malky signing who really thrived under ole.said in an interview he got on really well with ole believe that's why he stayed.
He played much better under ole than he has done under slade, the whole attacking full back idea overlapping and all that. He's lost his spark recently. I wouldn't want him to go though, hes our most complete full back.

This is not about Slade getting rid of the players brought it by previous managers for God sake, it's about Tan getting as much of his money back as possible before selling the club or walking away. I'm glad we're back in blue, but it comes at a price. Tan is now exacting his revenge.

It's hardly revenge  it's actually the sensible and smart thing to do

Selling our starting players for the same/less as we bought them for. Releasing squad players with golden handshakes and no transfer fee's. And we're trying to recoup money? Sounds like we're in a serious rush...

I can't honestly believe we're getting rid of brayford for a Huddersfield reserve.

All the best/decent players being sold to ensure Whitts & Gunner won't be dropped. ALF does not qualify as a best/decent player so no lose there then....... :bluescarf:

Bradford. Seems strange why we are loosing him.

Le Fondre. Appreciate he scored plenty of goals for Reading but from what I have seen he doesn't have the pace to be a good striker for us. Not bothered about loosing him at all.

There was always going to be a cost for returning to blue. Think a lot of us guessed there would be a fire sale of our top players, and for Tan it's a matter of recouping as much money as possible and cutting his losses before getting out. He said he would leave this club in a better position than when he arrived. We may not be hours away from going into administration when he goes, but it looks more than likely we will be in a lower division with massive debts. I think we've got many years of struggling ahead, but us older fans have had plenty of experience with that in the past. Just hope we don't end up down the bottom end of Div 2 again playing in front of 3,000 fans.

It was known in pre-season that Brayford wanted to return to Sheffield and that was probably fueled by the fact he wasn't featuring in the squad under MM and loaned to them, where he was a success. I think I also read he wasn't happy living in the area although I can't fathom how anyone could prefer Sheffield over The Vale/Cardiff but that's personal choice for you.

He has been a standout player for me, love his work rate and attacking runs - the only player in our side with any pace for a long time. It hasn't worked out for Alf but I'm really not happy with Brayford leaving.

I suspect that overall, team moral is very low with players (and their lovely agents) not knowing what the club's strategy is and having little confidence on their future with the changes that we are seeing.

Personally, the elation of the return to blue has quickly faded into frustration and genuine concern about our short and long term future given what has happened with RS and what is happening at present. I'll be at the Reading game but I know of plenty of ST's who are saying that they just can't be arsed. It shouldn't be like this.

Respect for your time as a fan but giving up over a right back being sold after some of the crap you will have seen in 55 years following city? Strange.

At the age of 67 I haven't got the resilience I used to have when I was younger. I have been through the bad times, just have not got the stomach for it any more. Sorry folks.

There is no logic behind anything we have done for a long period of time.

Apart from the blue.

I think we can accept getting the big earners off the wage bill but my opinion we should hold onto Brayford if he wants to stay, how much is he on? Sheffied United are a league 1 side can't be massive surely.

Why can't anyone see he clearly been giving orders to do this ?

He's got to cut down the wage bill and bring in cheaper replacements .

We had 30odd players . Some just collecting pay cheques and not playing . High earners have to go .

You'll have to get used to playing In the championship and for a few years or maybe even league 1 if it carries on this year.
