Cardiff City's home FA Cup third round tie against Colchester United will be broadcast live on BBC Two Wales.

Russell Slade's side will host the League One strugglers on Friday, 2 January with the game kicking off at 19.45 GMT.

:ayatollah: RUSSEL SLADE : CHANGES TO BE MADE :ayatollah:

Cardiff boss Russell Slade is set to make a number of changes to his starting XI for the FA Cup third-round tie against League One Colchester.

Goalkeeper Simon Moore, midfielder Joe Ralls and defender Matt Connolly are all in line to start.

Gabon defender Bruno Manga may make his final City appearance before flying out to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Colchester will be without striker Rhys Healey, who is ineligible by the terms of his loan deal from the Bluebirds.

“There are a few carrying knocks, so we’ll be resting those, meaning there’ll be a few changes for the game. It will be a great opportunity for others to come in and stake a claim, which is what we’re demanding.

“We need a win after a few disappointing results. That’s what will make everybody feel a little bit better, and if our next opponents are Colchester, and that happens to be in the F.A. Cup, then that’s the next opportunity for us.

“When results haven’t been going your way, you have to regroup; you have to reflect, analyse. Certainly, you get together again as a unit, then go about your business trying to put things right in terms of preparation for the next game. Things can change very quickly.”

The Colchester visit will provide Cardiff City’s first test of 2015, and the turn of the year brings with it the January transfer window. Russell confirmed that plans were well in motion with regards to bringing players in and moving some on over the coming month.

Colchester, managed by Tony Humes, beat Gosport Borough and Peterborough United to reach the third round.

Slade said the draw gives his Championship side an opportunity to progress in the competition.
"You always want to playing against one of the top Premier League teams," said Slade.
"But this gives us a real opportunity to progress.
"You can get real momentum out of a cup run and if we can get that I think it will be great for the football club."

Why shouldn't Colchester beat us. They can spend a few days planning their tactics. They know exactly how we are going to play. We all know exactly how we are going to play. We will continue pumping long diagonal balls up the field hoping that someone will be on the end of them. We will be over run in midfield, and if Colchester miss a few tackles it won't matter, all they need to do is wait for Noone to give them the ball. We have a lower league manager, a non league assistant, so looks like being a tight game with two evenly matched sides. Could be a draw.

I'd go for a draw or 1-0 win if it's a good day. I won't be there as I'm hoping to find a life away from Cardiff City Stadium after the events of recent weeks. Having said that, a boycott of this game is pointless. It would have always attracted a small crowd. If you guys want an effective protest against Tan or Slade or both, then either don't turn up or walk out of the ground at 19 minutes, 27 seconds of a league match on mass. This may get some real publicity. But this has to be ON MASS and not a token hundred fans from the Canton end to make an impact; or the powers that be will assume your feelings are very much in the minority ending up with 'egg on your faces'.

Who cares!!!!....If you do care about and support Cardiff City then don't go....In fact you have no excuse to go....jeepers you've even got people on here picking the team they'd like to see.....one even uses the Slade 442 and uses players out of position......For the sake of your team please , please, don't go (or pop along and protest outside the ground peacefully. Rant over.
