Cardiff City nostalgia: Look at these great pictures from under the lights at Ninian Park spanning 40 years

Dave Jones described the Ninian Park night atmosphere as 'special' and whether the Bluebirds were playing Real Madrid or Halfax Town, so many magical memories were created under those iconic floodlights.

Anybody who ever walked down Sloper Road when the famous Ninian Park floodlights were shining brightly into the Leckwith sky will know the feeling.

Whether it was one of the glorious European nights or a fourth division clash with Barnet, there was almost always an excitement in the air.

The second picture is what made evening kick offs special for me with the sky like that with the flood lights and the fresh winter air. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

I sometimes wonder why it couldn't be refurbished instead of moving into a new stadium. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Miss it so much... The atmosphere was not always great as people try to make out, but there was something special about the place. Something that made you want to just stand there for that extra hour, to take in your surroundings. You could smell the turf as soon as you stood on the Terrace, almost touch the field. There was no "them and us" between the players and fans. The players appreciated every person in that crowd, whether they were on £150 a week, or £15000 a week.

It was because there was only one road out,but it still could of been done, just a lot more money and we had no retail to pay for it.

If it was refurbished i think it would of looked similar to something like the boleyn ground or something.
