On-loan striker with Bolton is set for a spell on the sidelines following training ground injury

Joe Mason has been ruled out of action for the coming weeks after suffering a hamstring tear in training.

The on-loan Cardiff City striker pulled up in a training on Friday afternoon and is now set for a prolonged period on the sidelines.

“We’ll speak to Cardiff about the situation as it looks like he’ll be out for a while,” Neil Lennon said after the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Ipswich.

“At this moment we’re looking at between six and eight weeks, so we’ll see how things develop and take it from there."

Hopefully we can get him another loan at a club where he will get game. Has he started many for Bolton?

He was starting most games in the beginning of the season, but his last start was oct 25. Been a unused sub in most matches since then. Not sure why people have so high expectations on his return.

I think people got over excited about his hat trick and it was a way to have a dig at Ole.

Scored a few under MM in his first season, the season we went up he scored a few times when he had the chance.

He was unplayable against Blackburn away. Joe has good movement off the ball. The cc cup final goal v Liverpool was superb..

Pre season he looked quite good.

In my opinion after his first season he should have been sent out on loan every season for full season, he would have developed a lot more than he has having game time. For some reason Malky liked to keep him but not use him.

Joe Mason had been enjoying his third loan spell at Bolton, but the Cardiff striker will now be sidelined for at least two month due to a hamstring injury.

In his 14 appearances for Bolton he's scored an impressive enough four goals, perhaps not as good as his second spell with them last season, but it'll be a month or two before he's back in action with Bolton manager Neil Lennon saying that he'll be on the sidelines for at least six to eight weeks due to a torn hamstring.

There have been some reports that he could return to the Bluebirds but two months, as things stand, isn't going to 'end his season' so it's difficult to believe that ending his loan is something that will happen.

If this injury proved longer term perhaps he'll come back sooner? More news when we know it!
