Cardiff City are eyeing a move for former Bosnia international midfielder Senijad Ibricic, reports Wales Online.

Cardiff boss Russell Slade sent scouts to watch the 29-year-old over the season and is now considering making a move as he looks to rebuild his squad for next season.

Ibricic is on loan at Macedonian club FK Vardar from Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor.

But the Super Lig side are facing terrible financial problems and the midfielder has been told he can leave on a free transfer as a clear-out is expected this summer at the Kadir Has Stadium.

The midfielder has 42 caps for Bosnia but retired from international football last summer.

Ibricic is considered an attacking midfielder, who is aggressive but has an eye for goal.

Whilst at NK Zagreb he scored 22 goals in just under 100 appearances and at Hajduk Split he hit 35 strikes in 76 games.

In August 2010, Turkish giants Galatasaray were said to have offered 7 million euros for the midfielder but the bid was rejected by Split. He then joined Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2011 for the same fee.

Rafa Benitez wants to make Raheem Sterling one of his first transfer targets for Real Madrid.

Former Liverpool boss Benitez was in charge at Anfield and played a key role in persuading Sterling to move to Merseyside in 2010.

Benitez, who is set to be announced as Real Madrid's new boss next week, remains a big fan and that will only strengthen their chances of signing the England forward.

Real Madrid are already one of the clubs closely watching Sterling's contract stand-off at Liverpool and will make a move given any encouragement.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are also in the hunt for the 20-year-old who has turned down a new £90,000-a-week contract offer at Anfield.
