' UPDATED DAILY ' :thumbright:

Saturday 1st Nov 2014

Russell Slade
“There are likely to be few changes. We’re trying to get that continuity and I’ve got my eyes on the group that can take the football club forward. Then we can look again in January to see if we can get a little more help with the group that can help us progress.”

Friday 31st Oct 2014

Russell Slade could name an unchanged team for the second successive match, but he will think long and hard about whether he can find a place for Ravel Morrison in his 4-4-2 system.

It’s tough to see how that would work with Aron Gunnarsson and Peter Whittingham working to develop their partnership in central midfield, while Anthony Pilkington and Craig Noone are both working well on the wings where they have to combine defensive duties with a willingness to attack wide and produce a service for Federico Macheda and Adam Le Fondre.

Morrison could slot in alongside Macheda in attack but Slade wants to see his team defend hard from the front when they don’t have possession and Le Fondre has given 100 per cent for the cause since he has started in the last three matches.

Centre-half Ben Turner, midfield player Mats Daehli and Javi Guerra all came through a Premier Development League Cup match against Gillingham in midweek with no problems, but it’s likely the three will be among the substitutes at best.

Ben Turner is moving ever closer. He played in midweek and needed that 90 minutes. We’re pleased with him, he’s a good type, I like him on the training ground. He has a voice and we haven’t got too many of those so I’m delighted he’s on his way back and he’ll be part of the plans going forward.

It’s possibly too early for him to start against Leeds but he’ll be in a 20-man squad for the first time. That shows how close he is.

We are also waiting on Kenwyne Jones, who is 50-50 for the Leeds match. He has done a little bit of work in training this week will have a fitness test to see how he is. That will be a late test.

Tuesday 28th Oct 14

Leeds have sold their 2,100 allocation of tickets :ayatollah:

Cardiff City have been hit by the news that midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi is potentially out for nearly four months after aggravating a knee injury.

The South African international did the damage in a recent development squad defeat at Crewe and an initial examination on the knee by a specialist has concluded the 29-year-old could be out for up to 15 weeks. The Bluebirds are now arranging a second opinion on the injury.

Cardiff City looking to bounce back after their defeat to lowly Millwall.

Leeds United: Massimo Cellino should 'get out' of club - Giles

Monday 27th Oct 2014

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=149736

Former Leeds United midfielder Johnny Giles has urged owner Massimo Cellino to "get out of the club".

Head coach Darko Milanic left the Championship side on Saturday after only 32 days in charge.

He was the third managerial departure since Cellino became owner in April.

"I think the best thing he could do is get out of the club and make way for a new owner who could work in the best interests of the fans," Giles told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme.

Milanic, 46, was appointed on 23 September but failed to win any of his six games in charge. His departure came after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves, which left Leeds 18th in the Championship, five points above the relegation zone.
Massimo Cellino
Born: 1956, Cagliari
Business: Agricultural entrepreneur known as the 'King of Corn'
Football: Chairman of Italian club Cagliari for more than 20 years

Giles - a key member of the Leeds' title-winning teams of 1969 and 1974 - said: "It's crazy stuff. How long was he [Milanic] there? I don't know how many managers he [Cellino] has had since he came in, and I don't know what he expects of the managers. There are no resources to get players in. He wants miracles, I think.

"Why don't these owners become managers themselves? He might as well.
"I feel sorry for the fans. They have great support and tradition, it's a great set-up, fans pay good money, and then this fella comes in with a few bob and he's making a total mess of it."

Previous Leeds boss Dave Hockaday - appointed to replace Brian McDermott in June - also lasted only six matches before he was sacked by Cellino, who dismissed 36 managers during 22 years in charge of Italian side Cagliari.
"There's nobody going to stop him," Giles said. "He's in charge of the place. It's unfortunate for the fans he's taken over. If he has a history of it, he'll continue to do it. It's madness, and it's the fans who are suffering.
"It's outrageous that someone like him could come into a club - any club - and behave the way he has."

Dont see the point in restricting away allocations if theres no demand from the home fans. Its like the club doesnt want to see a packed stadium with the prices they are charging £30+ for home fans and reducing away capacity.

Leeds would of brought thousands down which would in turn improve overall atmosphere.

2-1 , and 22000, still one of the best supported in the Champs :) . Best bet for us this season at home ,since day one - city to win and both teams to score. Look at the results we are up 1000% plus. So if you use your winnings to date you have 10 attempts to get it right one more time! You can never have a sure thing but the way it is right now who knows. Each game the bookies have been offering approx 4/1 although at the ground it's usually 7/2 and for this Saturday bookies have caught on you will be lucky to get3/1

Leeds United are haunted by Scott Young from 2002 but Cardiff City assistant manager is focused on the present

As we build up to Cardiff City's clash with Leeds on Saturday, we look back to January 2002 and one of the greatest nights Ninian Park ever hosted, with the hero of the hour, Scott Young.

Scott Young will be forever remembered for humbling Leeds United, after his FA Cup goal scoring heroics in 2002.

Now, 13 years on, fans of the Yorkshire giants are still having nightmares about Cardiff City's assistant manager.

Why? Because in the 13 meetings between the two clubs since, the Bluebirds have remained unbeaten, winning eight and each time the joyous fans have regaled their opponents with the song: "There's only one Scott Young."

Lilywhites fans have never been allowed to forget the day Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler and Mark Viduka were humbled at Ninian Park or the fact that appeared to spark their fall from Premier League leaders to Championship also rans, via League One.
But in 2014 the two clubs are only three points apart and Leeds will provide a very stern test to Russell Slade's perfect home record as Cardiff City manager.

After reminiscing on that amazing Sunday evening, Young insists he's keen to focus on the present, saying: "We were in different divisions back then and Leeds were flying high, but now we are in the same division and our job is to do everything we can to earn the three points on offer."

As assistant manager to Russell Slade, the popular Rhondda boy who came through the system as a player is keen to win the love of the fans from the dugout and will be maticulous in his preparation for Saturday's match.

He said: "Leeds are slightly behind us in the table, but they have appointed a new manager (Neil Redfearn) and we all know the effect that can have. We are aware of that and will make sure the team are fully prepared.

“Our target this season remains the same and that is for Cardiff City to earn promotion. We are four points off sixth place and Leeds at home is the next match in our quest to climb the table.

“It’s crucial that everybody, including management, staff, players and fans, pull together and help our club make progress. If we can achieve that there is a real chance this club will make big progress.

“Bluebirds fans are passionate about their club, but I’m not sure they know just how much they can do for their team and the effect they can have. Their support is massive to every player. When City fans are cheering players feel taller and stronger. I know because I’ve been out there playing and it’s a fantastic feeling to have that level of backing.”

Leeds are 18th in the Championship table and without a win since September 22 but Warnock admitted that Milanic’s departure had come as a shock, despite the recent form.

“It’s a surprise to everyone, the way it’s unfolded,” Warnock said.

“We know the results haven’t been going too well but whenever a new manager comes in, there’s a transitional period where sometimes results don’t go the way they should.

“But the chairman (Cellino) has decided to change it and we have to deal with that and get on with that.”

Leeds United caretaker boss Neil Redfearn reportedly wants his contract in place and his position confirmed before this weekend’s game against Cardiff City.

Redfearn has effectively been handed the head coach role at Leeds on a permanent basis, but is thought to be seeking assurances over the longevity of his position and whether he’ll go back to academy boss should his first team role not work out.

The latest update suggests he wants everything in place before the weekend, which makes sense as it removes the uncertainty that may still exist in the mind of the players as to why ‘Redders’ hasn’t already signed a contract.

The sticking point appears to be the finances involved, with Redfearn’s salary yet to be agreed.

The match against Cardiff is a huge one because Leeds haven’t won a game since the last time Redfearn was in control of the first team.

The aim for the Whites this season is promotion back up to the Premier League and they need to close the gap on the sides that currently hold play-off places as quickly as possible.

Redfearn is a popular choice with Leeds fans because of the free flowing and attacking football he encourages all of his players to display during high pressure and important games.

Redfearn can’t be blamed for wanting absolute certainty surrounding his position so that he can focus on training and driving results in the right direction for the side.

Some have suggested that he should have been appointed ahead of Darko Milanic in the first place and that Cellino should give him any assurance he wants in a long term contract to get cracking and moving towards the top flight.

Cardiff City assistant manager Scott Young is wary of the effect Neil Redfearn could have on Leeds United when the sides meet this weekend.

Cardiff are in a superior position in the Championship table to Leeds, but Young has urged caution ahead of the weekend clash because of the effect Redfearn coming in could have on the Whites.

“Leeds are slightly behind us in the table, but they have appointed a new manager (Neil Redfearn) and we all know the effect that can have. We are aware of that and will make sure the team are fully prepared,” Young told Wales Online.

It’s a fair point because when Redfearn was in charge of Cardiff’s opponents earlier in the season, they didn’t lose a game over four matches, which hints at the belief and confidence that Leeds’ players have in Redfearn as a leader.

Cardiff can’t get too worried about the effect Redfearn will have or they could take their eye off the ball in terms of their own tactics and how they best go about trying to get three points.

Russell Slade had a good start to life at the club but a bad result against Millwall has left the side in need of a positive win against Leeds this weekend.

Where Cardiff have to be wary is pushing too hard for three points in the game because Redfearn likes his teams to play free flowing and attacking football whether that means dominating possession or counter attacking.
