Russell Slade
“There are likely to be few changes. We’re trying to get that continuity and I’ve got my eyes on the group that can take the football club forward. Then we can look again in January to see if we can get a little more help with the group that can help us progress.”
Friday 31st Oct 2014
Russell Slade could name an unchanged team for the second successive match, but he will think long and hard about whether he can find a place for Ravel Morrison in his 4-4-2 system.
It’s tough to see how that would work with Aron Gunnarsson and Peter Whittingham working to develop their partnership in central midfield, while Anthony Pilkington and Craig Noone are both working well on the wings where they have to combine defensive duties with a willingness to attack wide and produce a service for Federico Macheda and Adam Le Fondre.
Morrison could slot in alongside Macheda in attack but Slade wants to see his team defend hard from the front when they don’t have possession and Le Fondre has given 100 per cent for the cause since he has started in the last three matches.
Centre-half Ben Turner, midfield player Mats Daehli and Javi Guerra all came through a Premier Development League Cup match against Gillingham in midweek with no problems, but it’s likely the three will be among the substitutes at best.
Ben Turner is moving ever closer. He played in midweek and needed that 90 minutes. We’re pleased with him, he’s a good type, I like him on the training ground. He has a voice and we haven’t got too many of those so I’m delighted he’s on his way back and he’ll be part of the plans going forward.
It’s possibly too early for him to start against Leeds but he’ll be in a 20-man squad for the first time. That shows how close he is.
We are also waiting on Kenwyne Jones, who is 50-50 for the Leeds match. He has done a little bit of work in training this week will have a fitness test to see how he is. That will be a late test.

Leeds have sold their 2,100 allocation of tickets
Cardiff City have been hit by the news that midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi is potentially out for nearly four months after aggravating a knee injury.
The South African international did the damage in a recent development squad defeat at Crewe and an initial examination on the knee by a specialist has concluded the 29-year-old could be out for up to 15 weeks. The Bluebirds are now arranging a second opinion on the injury.
Cardiff City looking to bounce back after their defeat to lowly Millwall.
Russell Slade hoping to make it 3 wins in a row at home
