Millwall v Cardiff

Live on Sky Sports 1

Milwall

The Lions come into this fixture in 18th place but bottom of the form table and without a win in nine games after a nice start to the season. The fixture computer was kind to Ian Holloway's men giving them games against Leeds and Fulham first up and they duly cashed in and picked up six points. Since then a 2-1 home victory over hapless Blackpool is the only win to their name so there is clearly some work to do for the charismatic manager, who is never short of something to say.

Goals have proved difficult to come by with the strongest threat from veteran striker Ricardo Fuller who came off the bench to score twice in the last 10 minutes against Wolves last week and salvage his side a point. He can't play every game, though, given his age and the tough Championship schedule so the Lions need other attacking players to start chipping in too.

Holloway will have been delighted with the character his men showed to fight back from 3-0 down against Wolves and they also gained a point at Wigan on Tuesday but it was another game without a win - a run of eight games now.

Cardiff

The Bluebirds return to our TV screens for the second successive Saturday after inflicting a first defeat of the season on high-flying Nottingham Forest last week. I expected an improved performance for new boss Russell Slade in his first game in charge last Saturday and they certainly delivered with the 2-1 win - my only disappointment being I thought that the visitors would have been able to hold them to a point apiece.

Slade made three changes, including bringing in Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda up front as he went 'Back to Basics' and switched to a more traditional 4-4-2 formation, as predicted. The change seemed to work with the former Manchester United man netting his first league goal for Cardiff and Adam Pilkington particularly prominent down the right-wing.

Macheda and Le Fondre were then both on the scoresheet again as they came back from a goal down to defeat in-form Ipswich 3-1 on Tuesday night and move up into ninth place. That was also at home and it's on the road that Slade will need to earn his money as they have yet to win away this season - suffering a very poor 1-0 reverse at Blackpool in their last away fixture, prior to the international break.
