Not the right man for the job

Sat Oct 18, 2014 12:19 pm

I hope you're eating your own words now.

I always said to give him a chance...

Being two nil up at half time to one of the league's top sides...

Yeah... Can't be the right man for the job...

Early days with 1 game in, i just want us to carry on playing good football and keeping possession well.

Slade is a character mind, like him a lot, seems down to earth but also no nonsense, great balance.

Well too early to judge.

Cant ask for a better start though. If we keep a clean sheet that will be a good days work.

Really positive start today.

The right man for the job based on 1 game though? Steady on chaps - I believe I'm correct in saying Alex Ferguson DIDN'T win his first game in charge of the Manc's so does that mean he wasn't the right man for the job??

One bluebird doesn't make a summer.......

Silly post - trying to have a go at all the fans that said this.
It's one game & whilst I could see a change & am desperate for Slade to succeed, it's early days.

Judging him after one match is almost as ridiculous as judging him before giving him a chance.

OGS won away to Newcastle for his first game. :old:

Good start, however.

Cant judge after one game but that is the most organised city side I've seen for ages,we kept our shape and for the first time in ages whitts was playing a more forward role which made us effective with the the two wide men operating, gave the front two ideal space which has lacked thus far.

I thought yesterday had plenty of positives but we need to judge him over a much longer period.

It's the same as if we had lost, I wouldn't be done wrote him off.

A good start. We were very unlucky with the substitutions which left us struggling at the end. The most pleasing aspect for me was the players reactions and also the manager who all looked well up for the fight. Agreed with most posters about it being early days but the one thing he done yesterday was get a strong performance out of whitts and gunnarsson something I didn't expect at kick off.

Not just the result. But the style of play. That fact that we (for the first time in a long time) actually had some structure and focus..

The fact that we're the only team to have beaten forest comes second to the fact that we had eleven players out there who wanted to be there... Knew what they were found and knew what their team mates were doing around them.

Anybody possibly thinking that he *might* not be the wrong man for the job yet?

It's a dream start but it's just 2 games. Changing the manager often changes the results of clubs. You know what they say... "form is temporary, class is permanent".

And again, It's not the results that are giving me hope, it's the team as a whole.

We go one nil down... do we drop our heads like usual and let them walk over us? no. we go back out there and show them what's what.

Since he's come in, it;s not just the results changing... it's the mentality of the squad.

I'm not saying he's perfect or that we're going to win the premier league next year, I'd just like all the people who were outright slating the chap to say "ok... maybe saying he was a completely wrong choice was wrong and we should give him a chance"
