" DERBY COUNTY "

Derby County came from behind to win away from home for the first time in the Championship this season against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

After a dreadful week for Cardiff and Ole he really needs to pick up 3 points on Saturday against Derby County to get the fans back on side.

Team news
Cardiff will be hoping Fabio will be available after he went off at half time against Norwich.
Craig Noone will hopefully make an appearance after missing out this week. He did however play 70 minutes for the development team on Monday night.

The Opposition
Steve Mclaren's Derby County are currently one point above Cardiff in the Championship after a strong start to the season.

They have lost just once in all competitions so far this season, but they are the only side in the top 10 to win less than three of their opening six Championship matches.

"It's a tough week this week with three very good teams that we are playing against - it is a test for us," said 53-year-old McClaren.

Form - Last 5 Games
Cardiff have won one, lost three and drawn one.

If we play like we have been 3/4 nil to Derby.

If Fabio & No one back we may come away with something! Saying that I cannot see Ole picking No one until about Christmas. Even though he has game time for the under 21s he can't even get on the bench. He could have done more in 15 mins off the bench last night than the majority in the 90 mins.

Derby to win 4-0 unfortunately, can't see Ole turning this sinking ship around. New manager in, onwards and upwards.

Re: LATEST NEWS/GUESS THE SCORE ' DERBY v CARDIFF CITY

Derby County v Cardiff City

Pride Park, Derby, Saturday, kick off at 3:00pm

The likely line-ups

Derby County: Grant, Christie, Keogh, Whitbread, Forsyth, Hughes, Eystace, Bryson, Ward, Dawkins, Martin.

Cardiff City: Marshall, Brayford, Connolly, Manga, Fabio, Noone, Gunnarsson, Daehli, Pilkington, Jones, Le Fondre.

Team news

Cardiff caretakers, Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young could be tempted to hand a start to Craig Noone whilst Fabio could well be fit after missing the Boro defeat. Ben Turner is still the only long-term absentee with his ankle problem.

Derby look to have come through their win at Blackburn midweek unscathed. George Thorne is the big miss. The summer signing will miss the season with his cruciate knee injury picked up in the preseason.

Ones to watch

Derby County: Northern Ireland international Jamie Ward has enjoyed a great start to the campaign with five goals already including a brace against Blackburn in the Rams 3-2 win at Ewood Park midweek.

Cardiff City: It is going to be a tough afternoon for Cardiff with their manager gone and uncertainty surrounding the club. Time for their new skipper, David Marshall, to dispense some of the calmness he brings to the game.

What the bookies say

Derby 4/5, Cardiff 7/2, draw 5/2

Last time they met

The two sides last met in the 2012-13 season in the Championship. In November they fought out a 1-1 draw at Pride Park it finished 1-1 again at Cardiff City Stadium in March.

What the managers say

The Bluebirds will be led tomorrow by firm Bluebirds favourites Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young. Gabbidon was without a club in the summer, but was handed a player/coaching role by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is now in charge for the time being at least.

Scott Young is a legend at the club. His winning goal against Leeds in the FA Cup is firmly established in Bluebirds folklore.

Derby head coach Steve McLaren on the 3-2 win at Blackburn: “It was the best so far this season that is the style we want to play. That is us. There was some great football. We had the courage to play and after going a goal down, we had great character to come back.”

Who's the ref?

Andre Marriner: The West Midlands-based official had a tough time in the Premier League last season. He took charge of the Bluebirds last when they lost the South Wales derby at Swansea back in February.

This season he has taken charge of just one game, the League One clash between MK Dons and Bradford. He did manage to book five players that day.

Did you know

The last time Gabbidon and Young played together for Cardiff was back in April 2002 when they anchored the Cardiff defence in a 2-2 draw at Huddersfield.

And another thing...

Derby’s head coach McLaren had the shortest reign as an England manager ever. After he took over in May 2006 he was in charge for just 18 games over 16 months.

As much as I dont think it can work for Gabbs and Young, I do feel for them, to have to manage this whole mess, good luck to the both of them and we will sing your names tomorrow :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: LATEST NEWS/GUESS THE SCORE ' DERBY v CARDIFF CITY '

Now that Ole has gone and we have 2 players who know what the fans love to see, all I am looking to see from our players is 90 minutes of football where we see something we didn't for a full game under Ole - EFFORT. I'm hoping that Scott Young's enthusiasm will drive us on to victory!

However, meaning Scott & Danny were defenders in their playing days, it does make me think if they will adapt a defensive line-up during their time in charge.

I wouldn't say I'm confident at all with getting the 3 points but for the benefit of keeping myself partially sane, I will have to say 2-1 Cardiff... The players need to perform though :ayatollah:
