Whisky Again !

Sun Sep 07, 2014 8:52 pm

It must be an age thing, but I love my single malts, the one top tip I got from here was the Balvennie in Caribbean Casks which is superb, I love a Lagavelin, but currently on a massivly complex Glenfiddich Solero Vat which is great.

Please give me some more top recommendations.........................................................

Gotten more into single malts since moving up here. Got given a nice bottle of glenturret 10 yo by the missus old man. Tried a few others and got a nice litre of Jura superstition for Christmas and also won a bottle of glenfiddach 12 yo in a works raffle.

Don't drink them often but I have started to appreciate them more.

Have a few blends as well like the grouse and a bottle of bourbon as well

9 double vodka and cokes tonight for me with a mate.

Followed by three shots of tequila.

Have a feeling I'll regret it tomorrow - the joys of only being 21

ALWAYS BE BLUE :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

One of my favorite subjects.

The Balvenie Caribbean cask you mentioned is an excellent one to start, & available in most larger supermarkets locally.

My favorite Islay malt has to be Bunnahabhain 12yr, available from Waitrose,,,but Bowmore 12yr comes a close second.

There really is so many good, affordable malts on the market these days, have you checked out the Whisky exchange;

I have ordered off them many times, very reliable too.

Also, get yourself one of these, if you haven't already; http://www.whiskybible.com/

At the moment Ive got my eyes of a couple of the BenRiach 15yr range.

Visited Speyside a couple of week ago, drove up through the Cairngorms, absolutely stunning place.

Visited a few distilleries, The Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, & Glen Moray, where we stayed at Elgin.

We later drove via Inverness down to Fort William, & visited the Ben Nevis distillery (a very nice 10yr malt).

Just outside Fort William we also payed our respect at the Commando monument,,,very emotional.

Lest we forget.
