Bolton Wanderers are close to signing Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan.

Cardiff City are set to announce that Danny Gabbidon is retuning to the club as a player / coach.

The 35-year-old had been training at the club where he first made his name, after being released by Crystal Palace in May, and he will now make a sensational return for one more season in the Championship with the Bluebirds.

With the transfer window set to close at 11pm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to confirm the capture of Gabon international centre-half Bruno Manga for £5m from French club Lorient.

Meanwhile club captain Mark Hudson could well move to either Fulham or Leeds today whilst Juan Cala could be heading back to Spain with Getafe, but the arrival of Gabbidon would prove the biggest surprise of all.

Jermaine Beckford could be leaving Bolton to join another struggling Championship club Fulham


The others are Leeds striker Matt Smith and defender Mark Hudson of Cardiff City.

But the standout name is that of 30-year-old London-born Jamaican Beckford, who has been at fellow Championship club Bolton for just over a year.

The much-travelled Beckford has also played for Huddersfield, Leicester, Everton, Scunthorpe, Carlisle and Leeds.

The Cottagers, who like Bolton are yet to win a league game this season, are reportedly hoping to off-load strikers Bryan Ruiz and Hugo Rodallega.

Costa Rican Ruiz joined Fulham in 2011 but spent the final months of last season with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Colombian Rodallega has been in west London for two years, having joined from Wigan.

Rochdale have signed Blackburn defender Jack O'Connell on loan.
