Ole's contract/ Pulis

Sat Aug 23, 2014 6:22 pm

Forgive my ignorance but isn't Ole on a 1 year contract? Hope so because he is tactically inept and naive in his team management, therefore I hope Tan acts now, I have seen enough to form
My opinion which is a shame as I really like ole and the way he comes across.

So act now and get Pulis before someone else does, checking back over my posts I touted him when Jones was in charge, he will get us promoted and keep us there, admittedly some if his football is a bit route one at times but he it's more atteactive than our supposed greatest ever city manager MrMackay. he has an historic affection for us from his time as a lad watching us, I know that nostalgia and localness doesn't always work like Barmby at Hull, Warnock at Sheffield etc. but Pulis is the man I want at the helm, somebody will snap him up real soon. So it's time to act, ole was brought in to keep us up and he failed dismally, Pulis likewise at Palace and he smashed it with games to spare and with my opinion a inferior group of players.

Pulis had more time, more experience. How many times Pulis is a relegation specialist not a promotion specialist

Pullis got Stoke up. He for me would be the better choice

I believe Ole got a rolling 1 year contract like the one Dave Jones had so he can be got rid of at any time with only one years wages having to be paid as compensation.

I think Tan will keep Ole even if he isn't doing well just because he is a nice guy. Not sure what Tan would think of Pulis.

I like Ole I want to see him do well.
I would be happy for pulis to come home to south wales.
I think its his destiny and he'l do a superb job.

With money he could be a top 8 manager in the country

Do you really think any manager, with with an ounce of self respect, would work for a vindictive megalomaniac? Do you think Tan would be a better chairman to work for than Parish was? You have a great set up there which is ruined by one factor, and I don't need to tell you what that is.

Pulis likes money to spend. I don;t think he cares what he works for if he gets backed int he trasnfer market.

Ridiculous to consider removing Ole though

We have 7 points from 12. That's automatics form and just under 2 points a game which Dave Jones always loved to remind us would get you there or there abouts.

Things are oing well chill out everyone.

Given how high Pulis' stock is right now, you do realise he wouldn't be considering jobs at Championship level clubs?

almost true, apart from the fact he's never been relegated, and promoted three times.

Good point actually, but I'm not convinced Ole is the right man. Big step up from managing the Norwegian equivalent of TNS, to Premier League or Championship. Although I'm sure some of you will point out that Monk went from nil management experience to PL, but he did do a bloody good job last season. Its still thirty six games too early, to draw any long term conclusions about how he'll do this season.

If the season goes as well as this transfer window has it'll be a good season :ayatollah:

Although transfer windows always seem to be good when you're in them. It's when you look back six months later and realise there's a good reason other clubs were selling these so called stars that you really get an idea of how good they are

but how can you call a manager who has never been relegated, a 'relegation specialist'? plus, saying he is not a 'not a promotion specialist' despite 3 such promotions?

surely the post by party was a joke? if it was a joke i apologise.

7 from 12 is not automatics form. Its mid play-off form.

Last year depending in GD we would have come 4th/5th with 80pts.

f*cking hell, our fans?! We're four games into the season, and we're not doing bad considering the tough run of opposition we have had to start. Ole is our manager, give him a chance FFS!!!!

Its not just the last four games though is it, its the last twenty four games that he's been in charge. Are you really willing to risk the future of your club so that Ole can get experience as a manager?

Re: Ole's contract/ Pulis

For me, Pulis was manager of the season given his achievements with Palace but his record at Stoke is actually quite flattering. His net spend was huge, he made little from outgoing transfers and then Mark Hughes came in to give them a higher finish in his first season. I understand the logic in such a name for Cardiff but don't think he's the right fit. I'm also not sure he'd work for someone like Tan. He'd almost certainly want a Premier League job and I'd imagine vacancies by Christmas at Southampton, West Brom and Burnley. There could be a surprise departure somewhere too.

I was ganged up on previously for questioning Ole's suitability for Cardiff last season but regrettably have seen nothing to change my mind. The Championship gets increasingly competitive each year and it requires a concerted effort throughout plus that little bit of luck for a first time return. He might still need time but if he doesn't know his best team and is getting his tactics wrong then I'm unsure as to how he'll succeed this season.

I think that Pulis is currently a "No-Go" for Cardiff City, given the Spygate scandal that still has a distance to run ;)

I actually wouldn't want Pulis at the moment. He has only been promoted to premier league once and is not exactly renown for attractive football. He is the sort of person you want if you are in a relegation scrap as he is brilliant at organising teams.
