Blackburn 1 CARDIFF City 1
' FAIR RESULT,WE WORKED HARD,BUT I THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE MORE GOALS AND BLACKBURN WERE NOTHING SPECIAL '
Happy with a draw though away from home, good start
We started with 3 up front Nicky Maynard, Kenwyne Jones and Le fondre, Ole went for the 3pts.
If I am honest I have always slagged Kenwyne Jones down, but fair play in the first half he looked fit, up for it and had two good headers and scored and with his head , plus he won every header
In my opinion Whitts gave away the ball and Blackburn scored a super goal.
1-1 half-time I thought was a fair score line.
I thought Kenwyne was quite in the second half, bit still won his headers and was substituted ,but fair play he certainly proved me wrong.
I thought Maynard had a very quite game and Le Fondre worked hard.
I thought our defence looked good and tight and worked hard, Hudson gave his all
Fabio played well.
I thought Blackburn were not what I expected and were ok,nothing special.
Good result
My man of the match Kenwyne Jones

Ole's comment at end, not a pretty game, but my players battled,Hudson and Connolly played well, " WE NEED A CENTRE BACK "
Ole also said " we would take a point,no one should doubt our team spirit " ole:

My mom the back 4. Surprised me
Fri Aug 08, 2014 8:45 pm
Three of them , fabio was poor.
Fri Aug 08, 2014 8:47 pm
WE had no shape at all and pathetic performance Blackburn were not that good but WE made them look ok NO idea second half at all and Cardiff had no idea how they were going to get forward to score Sorry to disagree but 2 points lost against an average Blackburn side I REALLY expected a better attacking effort from Cardiff HOOF football second half

What game was you watching, Fabio was definitely one of our best players

Whitts gave the ball away but it was still a fair way out. Defence backed off the boy and he hit a great shot to beat Marshall. To listen to some you'd think Whitts losing the ball meant it was inevitable they would score.
Poor 2nd half but we have the likes of Cala, Turner, Noone and Dikgacoi to come in, plus any new faces before the window.

Really? I don't think you were watching the same game

Fabio was quality.

Looked class first half but looked weaker with every substitution. A decent point but Blackburn will be happier than us, I expected more.
Fri Aug 08, 2014 9:01 pm
how long till the ole out crap starts
1-kenwyne jones looking sharper
2-cala and turner unable to play
3-Connolly and huds not had much game time
4- noone will be back
5 -still time to get more players in
6 - far to early to draw conclusion on ole
7-blackburn was never gonna be a walk over

Fabio had a great game. Hard to believe he's the same player who joined us in January. Love that guy, gives his all.
People are being too hard on Whitts. He was targeted with some heavy fouls, and Blackburn knew exactly what they were doing to him. I don't think you can blame him for a goal conceded when he lost the ball so far from our goal. To be fair, the goal was pure magic.
Great to see attacking football away from home in the first half, and quite frankly it was great seeing us dig in during the second half, as it's often said on here that Ole's team can't do that. We've played against Rhodes and a rejuvenated Gestede, and only conceded 1 goal, so obviously we shouldn't be THAT concerned about our back four.

Thought Fabio and Brayford played well, and Hudson dispelled his doubters.
Formation was wrong for that game, but the subs stabilised things.
May well turn out to be a good point - I thought Rovers looked useful in the build up.

All about opinions? some havent got a scooby doo

Maynard was quiet, not suee what he contributed? Marshall should have done better with the goal and he was out of position a couple of times, on crosses, Hudson and Connelly are decent CBs in the Championship, as they have shown tonight. Fabio, is very clever, but plays himself into holes. I was surprised that we didn't get hold of the ball better, but I can see that OGS wants to move the ball quickly, that will come with more games together, the future is bright

His distribution was shocking. Defended well though.

I believe we will only get better and are in for a good season

My opinion but I thought Daeli looked a bit light weight for this division.

Totally agree. I'm most excited to have Noone back, but when everyone is fitter and the squad gels, we'll be fine

You have been spoilt already from one season in the Premier

This is the standard of the Championship, Blackburn will be there or there abouts and they hardly got more than 2 chances at us at home
Fri Aug 08, 2014 9:18 pm
Happy with a point in the end, tough place to go and to come away with s point in the 1st game away from home is decent!
Daehli was played out of position, so can't wait for Noone or maybe another winger to come in! KJ worked hard and played well, Le Fondre worked hard, Maynard was poor, Whitts at fault for the goal, and Gunnarsson was average! Thought the defence played well for it being a makeshift back 2. Overall, happy!
We grinded a result out and got a point, something we couldn't do last season, but people still complain its not good enough! If it was still Malky in charge, people would be happy..
Fri Aug 08, 2014 9:27 pm
You got to be happy with a point
Was worried when seen line up not liking a striker on the wing as they are not on a automatic defence mood when needed. But I thought le fondre done well would prefer him central though
Thought daehli look a bit lightweight. He is better central where he can play those probing passes
I agree defence played well but don't think we will go up with that pairing but got to say for two players who hardly played last year they done well
Whitts did give ball away a bit today but I think he is needed as he is the only one we got to play that killer ball
I thought big kenwyn played well considering he is only 75% fit
Happy with point
Tough first 6 games
Mom kenwyn jones

Made me chuckle
I still think Connolly was MoTM but Fabio is definitely a contender

This is where i see a problem when we are attacking L to R. Just seems to be a gapping hole in the middle at times, like the team is split into 5 all in defense 5 all up front.
When we lose possession, they make up alot of yards. If our back 4/5 get the ball back, then they HAVE to go long to reach our forwards.
But its a good away point, i thought Blackburn were solid but unspectacular same with us, although we did a few times look really good going forward.
I honestly didn't know Maynard started...

Commentators were amazed that we didn't know the goal scorer was left footed .Bit more homework perhaps.Take the point as we were starting to look clueless as game progressed.Long balls which Rovers mopped up.

- In the end of the day, 1 point at Ewood park is a good result.
- Marshall was not to blame for the goal, although the shot didn´t look impossible to stop. Otherwise, just as calm and reliable as we got used to see him last season.
- The central defenders had a good game, and it´s a while since I saw Cardiff defending as well as today. For me, Connolly was maybe the man of the match, but Hudson also did his job. As for the full back, I have seen Fabio better in attack in other matches, but never as good in defense. Out of the 4, maybe Brayford was the weaker player in my opinion.
- Whittingham must take the blame for the goal conceded, but also credit to Rhodes for an excellent tackle. A big plus for brilliant set pieces all through the game.
- Gunnarson had a weak first half in my opinion, giving the ball away far too easily. In the second half, where the game turned more into a match of rugby, he was more up for it.
- Daehli had his most anonymous game so far for Cardiff, but Blackburn had done their homework well on him, and he had two players on him the second he received the ball. He was still able to hold on to it, but was stressed enough to deliver some bad passes. I expect more from him at home against weaker opponents.
- I think Maynard had a decent first half, and work hard all through the game, but like Le Fondre, he was not involved much in the attacking part of the game in terms of creating chances. But their work conditions were not the easiest ones against a very hard fighting home site.
- Together with Connolly, Jones was the stand out player today, winning almost everything in the air and was also able to find his teammates with his headings. Not as good with his feet as with his head, and his heavy body makes him look a bit slow in some situations, but in a game like this, he proved himself worth his wages. There will be more matches like this in the coming months, and Jones obviously will have a great role to play in our fight for promotion.
- Ole was often criticized for being naive last season, but no one can throw that at him today. There was nothing naive about the way the team performed today. The players on the pitch seemed up for a dog fight, and the number of chanced for Blackburn can be counted on my longest finger. It seemed most important for both teams not to lose the opening match, and the game turned out just as ugly as you would expect from the first match of the season. Overall, a good result and the lads showed us that we´ve got some muscles in our squad. But I expect some prettier football home against Huddersfield.

Poor from us. One stage 70 / 30% to Blackburn.
Once again Cardiff take a lead and take a defensive stance.
when will we learn....
BEST FORM OF DEFENCE IS ATTACK
