' Mark Hudson: I'm fit to play '

Wed Aug 06, 2014 5:17 pm

I'm fit! Cardiff City's Mark Hudson plays down injury fears ahead of Championship opener with Blackburn.

Cardiff City defender Mark Hudson has allayed fears he may miss Friday's Championship opener with Blackburn Rovers due to injury.

With Ben Turner out with an ankle problem sustained in pre-season and Juan Cala suspended, Hudson and Matt Connolly are the only fit centre-backs at the club.

But reports Hudson may be struggling with a knock earlier on Wednesday left the Bluebirds facing what amounted to an injury crisis.

Hudson though, took to social media this afternoon to tell supporters he's raring to go.

"Training and fit!" was Hudson's simple yet effective post on Twitter this afternoon. The news will certainly be of relief to his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is working flat out with chairman Mehmet Dalman to bring in new defenders to the club.

This is all very well, but what if he's taken off after 15 minutes, knowing his recent injury record. Then what?

Huds and Connolly are going to have their hands full with Rhodes and maybe Rudy partnering him. Can see it being a goal fest. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Rudy hasn't played a lot of pre season and has been unwell so hopefully not playing Friday. Conways looked very good pre season I've heard

That's exactly why we should be worried about them!

average defender who was given a false sense of security by marshall heroics two seasons ago.

he has not played for a year. could this not all go horribly wrong?

I am sorry but Marshall was good 2 seasons ago, but Hudson was also fantastic, led the line, was captain and got us through the tough games. Goals, reading the game, his battling in the air.

The lad has grown a lot from being here, I hope he manages to get to himself.. a risk it is but he is defiantly the type of player I would like in and around the team in this division.. top captain.

Totally agree Dando. For my taste, probably the best personality we've had at the club since I've been a supporter. Love the guy. I hope he has a blinder on the opening day and proves he can have another season with us.

I do agree he is both a good player and a good bloke, very grounded, I just hope the year out and worry of injury won't affect him ........

Agreed, F**K giving him to leeds. Give him some coaching roles to do, the youngsters will learn a lot from him. Anyway there may be occasions like this week, where we'll need him due to injuries and suspensions.

If I was Hudson I would not be happy knowing that as soon as we sign new defenders he won't be wanted.
Great character and good enough at this level anytime.
