As DoubleG posted on Sunday
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=145012&p=1538573I have just had a message saying that Ole is in talks with Vegard Forren of Molde over a move to City.
Ole tried to sign the centre half in January and I am told that Forren is keen on the move.
£4m is the figure being said.
Let's see how this pans out.

Not sure what to make on this one!
Doesn't exactly excite me this one as another Norwegian signing! 4million seems a lot to considering we didn't offer that much for a proven player in fonte!
Tue Aug 05, 2014 9:48 pm
Considering we were offering 3.5 for an experienced CB in Fonte, this sum worries me. We need experience, not a risky purchase

Not a quick player but a good reader of the game

They say the same about Matts Hummels.

Need someone in, hope he fits the bill.
Tue Aug 05, 2014 9:50 pm
I dpnt think we are going to need him with keane signing soon

rather spend the money on Fonte really

Fonte was a no go from start. Never wanted to leave the Saint.

Don't like slagging off players before we get a good look at them but this one worries me.This is an absolutely crucial signing for us. We desperately need a proven, experienced centre back who we KNOW will do the job in our league. No evidence at all that Forren fits the bill. As Norwegians go, More Berget than Daehli I suspect.

The fee seems really high especially because it's more than the saints paid when he was really sought after. He must be decent if he had big clubs like Liverpool, man united and everton looking at him two years ago. Ole knows his game well so I think we need to trust his judgement.

We'll be forked after Norways friendliest the way we are going. Does sound a LOT of money for him. Would rather someone with experience of British football

I find it hard to believe we would pay this much for forren. That's more than we payed for Berget, dawhli and eikrem put together. I am not buying this one.

I don't think he would cost anywhere near £4m.
Molde sold him to Southampton for £3m, and according to this got him back 6 months later for £1.7m. What has he done in the last 12 months to justify increasing his price to £4m?

£4m seams desperate - and doesnt make sense. Forren will fit ogs style more than both Turner or Huds.
As well was prob smart to get Berget out the door before getting another one in.
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vegard-forren/profil/spieler/62054Maybe £2m is more likely.

I thought the figure was high, would have thought it would be around £2m myself but can only pass on the info I was messaged.

May be a complex deal - 4m in total if certain criteria.....

Still would be surprised at £4m even if it included bonus for promotion. But the guy has been accurate with info before so hence why I posted

Don't want to sound negative butttt jeeeeez not another one of those norweigians.....

Do not know player - reasonable write up though - figure on the high side
Have to trust Ole with this one i guess

Don't have much confidence in this signing, I must say. Especially for the figures being talked about.
Tue Aug 05, 2014 10:24 pm
Just curios why every poster thinks he, s not worth 4 mill might end up a bargain

If it was malky signing him you would be doing cartwheels

This transfer would make sense. An attack minded centre back. Very good in possesion which is something we don't have in the squad outside of Cala. Would make an excellent pairing with a younger, quicker CB. Say someone like Michael Keane (if that transfer is still on).
Tue Aug 05, 2014 10:27 pm
Dont like the sound of this one he has already signed Berget, Daehli and Eikrem from his Molde days and only Daehli looks worth it really dont inspire me with confidance this one glad Berget has left he looked dreadful when he did play i expect to see alot better from Eikrem and we all know Daehli looks good and is young probably Solskjaers best signing

In saying that, Forren signed for Southampton in 2013, didn't make a single appearance made for the first team and returned to Molde.

It seems inflated. Also we bid on the French guy he is valued at 4-5 mill. Would we bid on two players at that price?
