JUST £1M UP FRONT - TELL THEM TO . . . .Take a hike

Inter Milan claim they are close to signing Cardiff City star Gary Medel...and they only want to pay £1m this summer!

Inter Milan claim they are closing in on Cardiff City star Gary Medel - and the Italian giants insist they only want to pay £1m this summer!

That is the startling figure Inter reportedly want to pay up front to secure the man who starred at the World Cup less than a year after joining the Bluebirds for a club record £11m.

Inter believe they can secure Medel in a cut-price deal despite other World Cup sensations such as Real Madrid’s new £71m signing James Rodriguez seeing their value rocket following the tournament in Brazil.

Inter director of football Piero Ausilio believes Medel’s value has plummeted following Cardiff’s relegation, and he is determined to take full advantage of that.

The Bluebirds have already accepted they are going to take a hit on the £11m they paid to bring Medel to the Welsh capital from Spanish side Sevilla last summer, and they have held talks with Turkish side Galatasaray over a £10m deal.

It is understood they are willing to accept that figure, although Medel is thought to have his heart set on a switch to Serie A.

Inter, though, are refusing to go above £7m, insisting on a £1m down payment and then two further instalments over the next two years that would take the eventual transfer fee for Medel to somewhere around the £6m mark.

Italian reports suggest there would also be add-ons due to Cardiff if Medel makes more than 30 appearances for Inter next season, and if they qualify for the Champions League or Europa league.

Inter director Ausilio told Italian media: “I can reveal that we are negotiating to sign the player, the negotiations are at a very advanced stage. It is a player who we like a lot, even if nothing has been completed yet.”

we should just tell them to stop messing around and come up with a more realistic figure. if an offer of a loan fee of £1m for a year came through the office i'd just chuck it in the bin! :ayatollah:

If I was Tan I'd personally pull the plug and refuse to sell to Inter even if they come back with the full £10m were asking for, they must think were mega desperate to get him off the books, it's Medel who wants to go were quite happy for him to run his contract and play him in the championship. At least that's what I think it should be anyway.

This got to be the joke of the year.

This is beyond.

Medel's value may have dropped in the second half of the season, but his WC performance must warrant more than a derisory £1m down and the rest on tick!!!!

Gala all the way for me. If Inter come in after that, up to them. They don't hold the cards.

Just sit tight and wait for them to improve their offer.

I would just tell them that its pointless speaking any further unless they want to come back with some realistic proposals.

Just because we got relegated it doesn't mean we are a charity and, by the looks of it, we have more financial clout than Inter Milan.

Looks to me like the only thing thats plummeted is Inter Milans finances with the derisory offers and signings their making go somewhere else with that begging bowl we have lost all respect for you with the tapping up in the media and derisory offers the only players I'd send you for £1m is Jones or Velikonja

If the city are actually listening to this then it would be interesting to know how much up front we had to pay for Medal and if we still owe money for him.

None of us know what's going on behind the scenes but I just have this feeling Inter are going to win & screw us over.
Hope I'm wrong.

Carl just last week you was saying how good tan was getting the most out of transfers out , has your opinion changed on that?
We are losing big time on this one medel is worth much more than the reported 7mil surely?

Could be that simply getting GM's contractual obligations off the wage bill ASAP will save a shit load of money, week by week.

Lets face it, if it wasn't for the World Cup competition, he would have gone weeks ago.

Funny how Inter have the money to offer Man Utd £15m for Javier Hernandez but can't find the money to buy Medel? I'd just pull the plug in it all and sell him to Galatasaray for the asking price.

I honestly just think it’s a case of our fans massively overrating Medel. Most decent managers don’t sign someone just on the back of a few decent world cup games.
Inter obviously have the money but they see it as a risky signing hence wanting the loan, I don’t blame them . but from our point of view 1m upfront isn’t ideal but as long as the rest is to follow but if its linked to appearances and getting in the champions league then it is a disaster, they have to guarantee the rest is coming. If we can at the end get around 5-6m even if it does take a couple of seasons I think it’s about right.

I don’t blame Tan or whoever is in charge of negotiations now, we are obviously digging our heels in but Inter are playing Hard Ball.

The blame is solely on the stupid price we paid for him, depending on your opinion that could be Moody, Malky, Lim, Tan etc.

he wants to go to inter, but if inter don't stump up market value (£7m+), then he stays, or goes to galatasaray.

we overpaid i agree, but he's worth £7m of anyones money, any less and we might as well keep him, we've certainly got the money to do so :ayatollah:

Aren't Italian clubs renowned for not paying up in full on staggered transfer deals , I'm sure there has been a few cases :?:

Highly disagree with the idea of back on a few world cup games. Hernandez was getting bids of 20 million during the World Cup when United already snapped him up for 6 million or something.

James Rodriguez been bought for high price on the back of his world cup where as if he didn't have a good world cup doubt clubs would been sniffing around.

Besic the Bosnian we was linked with been linked with Everton.

Valbuena been touted around on the back of his France performances.
