Been a lot of noise about them lately surrounding this, I don't understand why Riga took the job knowing Oyston is one of the massive bellend owners I seen. Invests barely no penny into the club such as the team etc.

14 million on Ince and Adam they could have got if they sold Ince for the price we was paying.

Think it has been like that for a few seasons with them.

Their promotion to the premier was somewhat of a freak show with a manger so unstable it was quite entertaining but also frightening what can happen at a club. I personally never thought they would substain it at the top level and certainly not surprised they have struggled back in the Championship. I have a feeling it will get a lot worse for them before things settle down. That will be when they are in league one middle of that table.

Blackpool cancel pre-season trip to Spain with first-team squad down to just EIGHT players

The Tangerines kick off their campaign against Nottingham Forest on August 9, but as it stands they don't even have a goalkeeper on their playing staff

Blackpool have cancelled a pre-season tour of Spain because they only have EIGHT first-team players.

While the likes of Premier League Manchester United and Chelsea debate which star names they will add to their bloated squads next, the Tangerines really are down to the bare bones.

Some 27 players have left the club since the end of last season, with the first-team squad currently lacking a goalkeeper.

And manager Jose Riga has opted to keep his side in the UK - rather than play the two matches in Spain - in a bid to add additions, chairman Karl Oyston confirmed.

He told the club's website: "The manager has taken the decision - and I agree with the decision - to cancel the pre-season tour so that our time is better served to try and get some of the player deals - that we've been trying to get over the line for some time - across the line."

Earlier in the day, Oyston insisted he was calm over the lack of players at Bloomfield Road and remarkably admitted he saw it as something of a positive.

"There is no panic," he told BBC Sport. "In fact, I see it as a benefit rather than a downside.

"It allows the manager to bring in his own team, as opposed to a manager picking up a squad that is already overloaded and he doesn't think is good enough."

David Perkins, Gary MacKenzie, Steve Davies, Bobby Grant, Tom Barkhuizen, Tony McMahon, Charles Dunne and new signing Sergei Zeniov are the ones remaining - not one is a goalkeeper.

And to think where they were only a few seasons ago, beating us in the playoff final, then reaching another playoff final 2 seasons later, things can change pretty quickly in football, that's why I'm savouring every moment of the relative success we've been having lately, you never know what's around the corner

Blackpool FC are effectively a subsidiary of the Oyston property company. They got so lucky in their promotion that it was a step beyond for them as a football club but a huge cash bonus for the Oystons and guess what. they took it! (Unlike our owner FWIW)
Probably happy to have a 2'nd/3rd div club running on a minimal level of cash input.
I think you will find Blackpool websites detailing this.

p.s. the further they sink into the mire the happier I will be.

They'll still find a way to beat us next season, just wait

Jokes aside though, doesn't it put our "problems" into perspective?

At this moment in time, if you decided to call them the pussies and get them to play in mauve, I bet loads would take it if it meant stability.

All we have to worry about is reversing the rebrand. The squad is strong and building ready for the new season and the stadium is second-to-none.

I work with a couple of Blackpool supporters. I took a lot of crap off them when they got promoted.

We've been discussing there cancelled tour. Suggested to them that they do a 5-a-side tour.

All office banter :ayatollah:

can see no way they stay up this season. but i suppose it depends who they bring in. Are going to need at least 11/12 players.
