'Time for you decide'...

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tells Steven Caulker ball is in his court after £8m QPR bid accepted

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told skipper Steven Caulker the ball is in his court now when it comes to a move.

The Bluebirds boss confirmed a fee believed to be in the region of £8m has been agreed with QPR for the centre-half’s services.

Caulker joined Cardiff for a price-tag in the same region last summer from Tottenham, but was unable to help keep Cardiff in the Premier League.

Caulker himself impressed last campaign, playing every second for his side and netting some valuable goals.

With a release clause in his contract now triggered, the England international is poised to make the move from the Welsh capital and, whilst sad to see him go, Solskjaer said he hoped any transfer might be done quickly as he looks to finalise his squad ahead of the forthcoming Championship campaign.

“The clubs have agreed a fee. It’s been accepted and now it is up to Steven to decide,” said Solskjaer.

“At the moment QPR is the only one I know about. I have spoken to them. It’s up to Steven if he goes.

"He obviously enjoyed his season here and he played every single minute and he did exceptionally well. But of course the lure of the Premier League might be too much for us to hope he might stay here. He has to make that decision.

“You want to get the business done as soon as possible. We’ve shown that ourselves by signing players early on in the summer. It makes it easier then to get a settled squad. Steven has trained well with the rest of the boys this week and so far he is still our player.”

If Caulker does go, Solskjaer has already confirmed he will be looking to bring in a centre-half to replace him.

Another player seemingly set to leave Cardiff is midfielder Gary Medel who impressed at the World Cup recently with Chile.

Currently nursing an injury, Medel has said he hopes the ‘door is open’ and Valencia and Inter Milan are believed to be interested in the man who remains the Bluebirds record-signing following his move from Sevilla a year ago. Solskjaer said once more it was a matter of just waiting to see what happens.

The Cardiff manager added: “Gary has shown how good a player he is and the World Cup was as we expected.

"There have been enquiries, but the owner and chairman do the negotiating so I am just waiting for news. You never know. He is still our player. We will see what happens.”

I am honestly really tired of this dragging on and on. First cowie spent ages pondering his next move, now chaulker. And then there is Campbell who seemingly can't make up his mind either. They should just be given a time limit and told to make up their mind.

tbh..i think it speaks volumes about our club that players are not desperate to leave.......

I was just thinking the same thing !

Just a shame we got relegated as I think we would have been in an even better position to keep them !

No doubt money is a factor but at least it seems like there are no underlying issues with the manager, egos, set-up, etc.

If they are to go I just hope it soon so OGS can plan. Maybe a promise of a release in January if we're not in the top 6 by then would be tempting to a couple of them :ayatollah:

Yeah but I prefer the ones who made up their mind
Wittingham could have left years ago but he stayed with the club. Marshall looks to be staying too A young talent like daehli does not have to stay with cardiff he chooses to and there are several pl clubs interested in a young talent like him.
Those are the players we should build the team around

Caulkers probably waiting to see if a more glamorous premier club will come in for him,if not then he'll go to QPR.
Every player wants to play in the premier league so can't blame him if he wants to go.

The debate proper ,won't begin until the pre-season exodus !

I like this bit from OGS - as it should be.

My view on this window so far - good as far as the signings are concerned, I think the next month will see a lot of churn. I don't have a problem if the more expensive ones take a bit longer, means we are battling for everything.

i understood he could gone to pool or arsenal? but maybe qpr is not an exciting thought all there offering is what hes got here,
perhaps he thinks qpr will struggle so why go there? if they get relegated back to square one? better the devil you know for now maybe!
