Sunderland agree £1.5m deal for Jordan Mutch after impressive season at Cardiff City
By SIMON JONES
Sunday 1st June 2014
Sunderland have agreed a £1.5million deal for Cardiff midfielder Jordon Mutch, 22.
Mutch was Cardiff's top goalscorer last season and was not keen to drop back down to the Championship.
The club are looking to wrap up many deals early on, with Billy Jones and Jordi Gomez already signed.
Coup: Sunderland have agreed a £1.5m fee with Cardiff City to sign star midfielder Jordan Mutch
Two men who could be on their way out at the Stadium Light are Jack Colback and Adam Johnson.
West Ham are looking to sign academy graduate Colback, while Johnson is £5m target for Hull City.
Gus Poyet though, has recently penned a new contract.

What a steal... I wouldn't sell him for £1.5mil - he's worth more to us than that!
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:48 pm
£1.5m for a 22 year-old English player with seven goals from midfield in his first Premier League season?
This can't be right.
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:49 pm
1.5 this can not be right
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:50 pm
Way too cheap!
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:52 pm
Not surprised about the transfer as I am not sure he fits into OGS plans.
Sunderland are not big spenders, and unless he has a release clause I was expecting about £3m to be the going rate for Mutch.

Has someone lost the plot down at CCS.
£1.5m for Mutch, you are having a laugh.
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:54 pm
can't be right at all, didn't we pay more for him than that plus he's proven to score in a midfield position for a poor premier league team at the time. He's english and 22, no way would i sell him for anything less than 4 million
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:54 pm
Didn't we pay £1.5 million for him? Unless Malky put some stupid clause in his contract I can't see this happening

That's madness whilst he's injury prone IMO he's still got great potential and we paid almost £3m for him
If he's not keen to stay then best to offload but we should be at least recouping what we paid for him
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:55 pm
Can't see it being that price didn't we pay 3 million for him
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:56 pm
Sadly, he is in the last year of his deal, so the ball is very much in Mutch's court & it will be a cheaper deal than expected.
Although, at such a derisory figure, I think it's worth keeping hold of him and risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Sun Jun 01, 2014 9:57 pm
1 year left on his contract.
Would still have expected £3 million however.
Could be staged payment with £1.5m upfront.

Wez, lets hope the Mail have it wrong and were once again not running our club poorly.

He's under 24, we'd get training compo wouldn't we if he left on a free?
Worth holding on to him.

£1.5m is a steal. Worth a lot more than that in my opinion.
One of my favourite players, and one with big potential.

Totally agree, if true madness by our club.

1.5 WTF terrible bit of business

The boy was bought for 2m if I remember correctly. This can't be true. Surely it's a typo and it's 15 rather than 1.5

No we wouldn't we bought him.
He's got a year left on his contract so 1.5 million is probably right.
Most of you on here thought he was good enough to go to the World Cup so I can see why your all over reacting.

I call bullshit on this one.

And what if they are not?
Also surely your not blaming Malky for this, Mutch is quality and Malky is gone.

This! You've got to be kidding me. Easily one of the players I think has the most potential. Love watching him play when he's on form. Young and so much more to come.
Must be a mis print. Must be 15M.

Only a year left on contract didn't realize that so 1.5 might be about right ,better than getting f**k all like we did with other players in the past
Sun Jun 01, 2014 10:14 pm
Must be a release clause activated surely?

Mutch was a Championship player when we bought him, I doubt it, I might be wrong though.
