Southampton have spent about 75 million in the last two seasons... hardly a small amount.

I agree but this has basically been over approx. a 3 year period, so not vast amounts for a PL club when you see how much Sky give all PL clubs each year, they seem to be well run and top 8 for a club the size of Southampton is pretty impressive when you see the 7 clubs above them and the size of their fan bases etc![]()

75 million in two seasons, and some of those signings have been rubbish. But basically it shows that sucess towards the top of the league is possible with a mixture of spending wisely, good management, well run club etc etc.
To go to the 180m figure of 3 seasons that the Leicester chairman is talking about to reach the top 5, lets imagine that Southampton kept hold of Shaw and Lallana, then went and spend 105 million this summer... they would be there challanging i reckon.
