I could see him scoring a few in league 2 doing well. and also league one I think he could be a useful squad addition.
I cant think of anything worse than fielding him in the championship though, it seriously worries me hope we get replacements

He was premier class once, but like the content, lazy and very rich world heavy weight champions of the past the hunger and desire has gone so he is a shadow of the player he once was.
I would put him on a performance Improvement Plan and sack him when he failed......

not even sure he would finish top scorer in league of wales,
think he could do a job for someone like rotheram if they get promoted, or birmingham at best
Wed May 14, 2014 8:23 pm
Despite being a Championship/PL striker his whole career he can't do it here, good logic
Wed May 14, 2014 8:39 pm
The lazy fucker wouldn't get it my local park side

I don't think quality is the issue with Kenwyne Jones. It's effort.
Read interviews mentioning him and players / managers will say he's far too laid back, and that it's a tough task to get him in the mood for a game. Shocking for a so-called professional, really.
Would be more than happy to see him sold or loaned out - with the vast majority of his wages being paid by the other team, of course.

He's shit. Not as talented as he was, his laziness means he simply won't cope in the championship

pay him a big bonus to get goaals and he may score, other than that time for him to hang his boots up...
Wed May 14, 2014 9:13 pm
he's got the ability to be a very good player he just chooses not to be
Wed May 14, 2014 9:16 pm
Cardiff combination, if he tries a bit more ......

The new no. 1 CCFC scapegoat. No where near as bad or lazy as he is made out to be.
If given the chance, I think KJ will prove the majority wrong.

22 goals in the Championship out of 82 appearances, average record but he did blaze it one season. He is a scapegoat because he 'doesn't try' despite being a target man whose considerably taller and heavier than our other striker Campbell whose considerably smaller in both height and weight and more mobile. Jones has won numerous aerial duels for us but hasn't had anyone to flick them on to convert because Campbell can't hit a barn door. Not saying Jones is any prolific and reality looks a bad signing now but the way fans go on he's expected to perform miracles, work his arse off and be the most prolific goal scorer in the clubs history. Fed up of this nation's attitude of a failed trier than someone with talent whose an unsung player

Exactly a point I've yet to come across on here and glad someone can back him.
Exactly the player who can win things in the air to flick on to the new strikers we might be bringing in

How is a striker expected to score with little or no service. Malky only introduced noone into the side in December and he was the only provider of decent crosses all season. Even whitts dead balls were terrible most games.

I think he will be ok and cause a few problems against Championship defences.

I dont think he deserves championship football the amount of effort he puts in is disrespectful to his employers, strutting around a club with the black bad ass chip on his shoulder akon wannabe persona like several others diouf being one.
players get lazy and dont wanna work hard enough to maintain their peak into theirs 30s as simple as that

Yes, of course he is. When he wants to play he can be a decent player Championship/Lower Premier League level. But sadly we won't see it and I wouldn't be surprised if we're stuck with him until his contract runs out (like Zigic at Birmingham) because I doubt anyone is going to take him

I would not be too bothered about his goal ratio as I believe his percentage of assists will be what is important with our new strikers expected to be the more prolific acquisitions up front with .

He's never been match fit, barely plays in 18 months then gets 60 minutes here and there for us.
Fabio was shocking until he got a few games and has looked like an outstanding player since.
If he sticks around he may look pretty good with a full preseason.

I think he would be class in the Championship.

Spot on Jon!!!
Give him a chance. He's been starved of service last year and when he did get forward, there was little to off-load to.
The defensive players in Championship will be far less mobile, especially in the closing minutes. The Championship may be competitive, but it ain't lightening.

He deserves at least a chance. The last time he played Championship football was nearly 10 years ago... if he has been good enough to play Premier League football for this long then I'm sure he'll make some sort of impact in the Championship.

Get him fit (which due to missing so many games last year he wasn't) and he is easily Premier league standard!
Thu May 15, 2014 12:59 pm
My biggest concern is not his ability but his motivation. Could go one of two ways, he might be more interested now we are at least trying to attack in the championship and he will get chances. ALternatively he might just think he is above the championship.

His pass rate success certainly isn't above championship and his first touch, and his shot to goal ratio is almost as bad as marshalls

I think jones would do a good job in he championship, big strong and is a proven prem league goal scorer. I still think he should be sold tho as his wages are to his for us.
Thu May 15, 2014 10:22 pm
Conference class with regards his attacking. Sell him now. On the other hand could try him out at centre back, he won his fair share of crosses and corners only unfortunately for us in the wrong box attacking wise lol

If it's true he's on 60 k pw we need him gone asap
