' CARDIFF CITY ' :bluescarf:

Striker Craig Bellamy is set to play a part for Cardiff in Sunday's Barclays Premier League basement battle against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The 34-year-old, who has been sidelined due to a virus, is poised for a role in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad as Cardiff look to build on collecting four points in their last two games against Southampton and Stoke.

Winger Craig Noone (abdominal injury) is the solitary confirmed non-starter, with Solskjaer reporting no fresh injury concerns following the Stoke clash six days ago.

Cardiff City travel to Sunderland after winning at Southampton and drawing at home to Stoke City.

Cardiff City will be backed by over 1,200 fans who will have made the 12hr round journey. :ayatollah:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could again stick with the same lineup after a draw that could have easily been another win at home to Stoke last time out.

Andrew Taylor is still carrying a knock and may miss out again.

Craig Bellamy sat out last week die to illness but should be ok to return.

Mark Hudson and Craig Noone are both ruled out.

Only Norwich City (eight) have taken fewer away points this season than Cardiff City (10).

Cardiff are the only team yet to concede an own goal in the Premier League this season.

Cardiff City are the only team in Premier League history (46 teams in total) never to receive a red card.

The Bluebirds have conceded more goals from counter-attacks than any other side this season (8).

' SUNDERLAND '

Midfielder Liam Bridcutt returns to the Sunderland squad.

The 24-year-old has missed the last three games for personal reasons but is available once again, as is full-back Phil Bardsley after serving a two-match ban, with the Black Cats attempting to build upon last weekend's shock 2-1 victory at Chelsea.
However, defender Carlos Cuellar will not be risked as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, while midfielder Ki Sung-yueng (knee) also remains on the sidelines along with keeper Keiren Westwood (shoulder) and striker Steven Fletcher (ankle).

Sunderland are expecting a crowd off over 40,000 for what is a must win game for either team.

Gus Poyet has Phil Bardsley back from suspension but may choose to stick with the team he fielded at Chelsea after picking up a memorable win.

That could mean Santiago Vergini retains his spot at right-back.

Connor Wickham is carrying a knock but should recover in time to start.

Connor Wickham has scored three goals in his last two PL appearances after netting just one in his first 37.

Sunderland have conceded more than any other side in 2013-14 (6).

Sunderland have scored as many goals in the past two Premier League games (4) as in their previous eight outings.

Sunderland are the only team to have played fewer than 500 Premier League games but have more than 50 red cards (53 in total). They lead the division this season with seven.

Sunderland have failed to score in five of their last eight Premier League home games.

Sunderland have taken only eight points from 15 games against teams currently in the bottom half of the table, 10 fewer than any other side. They have scored just one goal in six home games against the teams currently in the bottom half.

Think we are stronger, only concern is Fabio starting against Adam Johnson, hes a live wire rather have a stalwart at back who purely defends and dosnt lose the ball or push forward, super Kev springs to mind. hes got pace and a much better workrate for this.

Fabio is much much faster and better than Kev.

Fabio is playing well at the moment needs to be in the team from the start

I think we will use the same side as the last two games. Keep it tight first half with Kim then unleash Zaha (hopefully playing behind the striker) on some tired legs. Sunderlands back 4 are known for getting red cards so we need to get at them.

Yep usually from low crosses, so hopefully OGS has highlighted that to players

Fabio was one of our best players on Saturday. Has developed a nice understanding with daehli. Must be in the team. If I was gonna change anything it would be on the right side Kim and ktc didn't offer enough going forward and Ktc just hoofs the ball forward.

Anything worse than our best team though and we could easily throw this away. We need the first goal and the momentum that comes with it or else w could end up with a draw or a loss and our chances reduced a lot.

with the DVP game not having Berget or Eikrem on I would say both would probably be on the bench.

Probably the same line up - only change that might happen is Zaha starting for Kim. It's going to be a real battle, could really see a red card or two being passed out with both teams needing 3 points from this game (and Sunderland's large number of reds/yellows on the season)

I think it will go 2-1 City - but really think whoever scores first will win this game.

Lets roll through!

Dunno if there is something supposed to be funny about this. Wolff's role is creating chances. He's played about 60 or so minutes of Prem football and has 1 assist, a really awesome defense-splitting pass upfield and a couple of deflected shots. I get the feeling many Cardiff fans aren't watching their players half the time they're on the field...

People moan at Ole for tinkering yet want him to change to 3 at the back. 4-1-4-1 has been successful over the past two weeks why not stick to it? It's not as if 3 at the back won us any matches.

Gus Poyet wants Sunderland fans to inspire the Black Cats to victory against Cardiff
SUNDERLAND are set to attract their biggest crowd of the season for Sunday's high-noon relegation showdown against Cardiff.

The Black Cats have won only three league games at the Stadium of Light this season and only one in 2014.

But after looking dead and buried a fortnight ago, the stunning 2-1 win at Chelsea following on from the 2-2 draw at Manchester City has revived hopes of Gus Poyet's side pulling off a miracle escape.

And while they currently remain anchored to the foot of the table, victory over fellow strugglers Cardiff could see them climb out of the drop zone.

Sunderland have regularly pulled in 40,000 plus gates despite their appalling home form but this weekend's attendance is closing in on a 48,000 full house with the Mackem faithful responding to Poyet's call to arms.

He said: "I want Sunday's game to feel like the last day of the season because it's the game that we need to win.
