Next Years Championship

Mon Apr 21, 2014 6:14 pm

People can say this every year but I genuinely feel next season will be the hardest Championship ever. Whoever goes down from the PL, I remain an optimist but aware we could go down will have a tough ask of going straight back. The bounce-back record doesn't fare well for recently relegated PL sides either.

We have Wolves who will be on high spirits and aiming for a double promotion, two sides we get relegated alongside with(IF we go down) three sides in a quality contested play-offs etc like Derby, QPR or Wigan. Rejuvenated ex PL sides like Blackburn and Bolton?

I feel if we are to go down we should expect play-offs at best next season, next season will have to be a re-building season

Our Champ team should be this
Moore
Brayford
Cala
New CB
Fabio
Noone
Mutch
Daehli
New CDM
New winger
New Striker

I think this is pointless at the min mate, as there is a decent chance we could stay up.

There is a decent chance but there's always time for discussion. I always remain an optimist and would hate to see us go down, it'd pain me. But just wondering :ayatollah:

This will be a big discussion when the seasons over no doubt, can't think about myself at the moment. Bring on Sunday :ole:

Can't See Jordan Mutch staying.
He has impressed many this campaign.
Given his age,he's probably only gonna get better..

Inconsistency has been his problem for us this season, he has gone missing a few games but I can see a newly promoted side making a bid for him. Hopefully he stays though, reckon we could get about 5m for him

Kenwyn Jones SHOULD be a beast in the championship. also there is no doubt that Campbell can score goals at that level too.

Id expect us to be in the top 6 for sure if we go down

I'm actually quite excited about the prospect of being out of the media spotlight and playing teams such as Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

They SHOULD but I don't think we should stick to our own players. We need to have a overhaul in the summer, we need to prep ourselves for a PL return if we go down by buying players who can compete in Champ but also compete in PL

Why would you not stick with our hardest working player? Who scores goals for fun in the championship?

But it's clear he's not a PL striker and his finishing is garbage, we need a new striker in the mould similar of Charlie Austin

We're going to the championship he's one of the best for that division keep him if we go up look for better

I didn't say he was proven, but Campbell is far from proven in the PL

I refuse to do Leeds. Luckily most clubs charge around the £15-20 for U21s, students etc

Re: Next Years Championship

& if we go down, we won't be in the prem... So Campbell will be just fine. :laughing6:

You was on about Sam Baldock the "big man" not so long ago, proven in prem too? :D

Correct but we're not on about a prem team you said the team for championship next year

Play him as a striker alongside a new striker then. He may score goals but he is far from being a PL striker. We need to prep ourselves for a return with an actual goal scoring striker whose clinical unlike Campbell who has a poor conversion rate

Campbell is a good option IN the Championship but it's clear he is not proven in the prem. I am asking for a striker in the mould of Austin or someone who can clearly score goals in PL but CAN make a step up, I am not even insisting Baldock or Austin are PL proven but have potential to be.

Re: Next Years Championship

So you have a go at Malky for gambling money on an unproven striker, then suggest we blow over 4million on Austin, who's just as unproven at that level.... (that's what he went to QPR for I believe)

Your not making sense mate your on about a championship team next year he's good enough for the championship then if we go up look for better, your not really going to be able to buy a prem team for the championship and then keep the exact team who will stay up

I'm on about buying players, for example Lambert has made the step up to the PL for Saints, this is the player we should be going for, not Lambert himself as he'd never leave but players in the mould!! What is hard to fathom for some

Austin is more adapted to the physical English game and has scored goals throughout the division, no reason why he can't make the step up. Like I said, in the MOULD of Austin

Re: Next Years Championship

Still just as unproven & doing exactly what you slagged Malky off constantly for. :laughing6:

Austin, Baldock (the 5ft7 BIG MAN) who else do you want to buy that is unproven at prem level?

Milky had 42m to spend overall, 10-15m to get promoted. Ole is going to have considerably less, Ole is going to have to be astute in getting the right striker for a bargain price because of the mess left in front of him

So you want a proven prem striker to play in the league below, for peanuts?! :laughing6:

Mackay was ambitious yes.

Not really much of a mess, we should walk the championship with this squad.
