Defender Kevin McNaughton has won a new deal at Cardiff after impressing new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

McNaughton looked destined for a summer exit when his contract runs out after being sent on loan to Bolton in October.

The 31-year-old featured 13 times for the Championship club, scoring one goal, but since returning to South Wales in January he has played in six games for the Bluebirds.
And Solskjaer now wants to keep the experienced campaigner, who signed for Cardiff from Aberdeen in 2006, around for next season.

We should have kept Brayford, not sent him out on loan.

We will need him next season in the championship play off push

Give him two years so he can have a testimonial

I've been waiting for this news for a while. We should have him and Brayford in the fullback positions IMO.

I thought Malky had extended his contract last summer ?

The best right back we have in the squad at the moment in my opinion - I'd rather him play there than Fabio or KTC.

He's my No 1 unless they can do a better job to replace him. Ridiculous the obsession to oust him from his spot in the team, when clearly there were other areas to address

I didn't agree with retaining him when we got promoted as he is not good enough for a prolonged place in a Premiership team and thought it would be better for all parties that he got himself a 3 year deal with a decent Championship club, yet one year on he's still here and it looks likely that we will be playing Championship football, so it seems sensible to retain him on a one year contact.

Hopefully his last year if it happens.

People speak of this game v Arsenal but I was there and there was nothing going on at all down his flank.

John had the ball down his side all game.

He has been a great servant and his commitment to sign contracts and stay with us has been brilliant but we should move him on personally.

Thing is people like Don Cowie and Super Kev are exactly what you want as squad members. Total pro's who keep themselves fit, low wages, and ready to jump in when you have an injury crisis. These players are rare and worth keeping in division.

That's not just preparing for championship, that's preparing for a prolonged stay or double relegation

The way KTC has played recently it makes me happier to see Superkev in the 11. Well deserved for a reliable and loyal servant. Hasn't let himself down at all at PL level, a good squad man to have.
