Bye bye Velikongoals

Things haven't really worked out for Etien Velikonja since he came to Cardiff, but he's close to getting a chance to get his career back on track as he's looking likely to become the next player to be moved on this month.

He'll be leaving Cardiff to join Sarajevo on loan, the other club that Vincent Tan owns.

Tan became the owner of Bosnian club Sarajevo in December, not really something that was very highly publicised was it? The first player to make the move between his two clubs will be Velikonja, according to their director of sport.

Abdullah Ibrakovic has been quoted as telling Dnenvi Avaz: "Cardiff's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the green light for a loan, just like the player's agent.

"Now the ball is on the striker's side. If he does come, he will be a great replacement for our best striker Nikola Komazec who just left us."

With just four first team appearances for Cardiff since he arrived from Maribor back in 2012 I don't think that he'll be a player that'll be missed too much, many would've already forgotten about him!

OGS has enough talent ahead of him currently at the club, with other striking arrivals still possible this month as well.

Going back to another part of the old Yugoslavia. Wish him well.

Strange business, though. Scored in that friendly against Newcastle, then more or less vanished.

in our sportspaper said that :

In the club as the agency does not give statements, including Velikonja shouldn't make statements, that is the decision of the club. But we managed to find out that his agents should be presented to the public the background slightly suspicious crossing, and explain why Velikonja was not even getting the opportunity to play.

so, we can just wait  Agents were Joao Camacho, who was in Maribor for signing and he was under Jorge Mendes.

He came on as a sub in our impressive 4-1 pre season friendly v Newcastle Utd, on the 11th August 2012, scoring a goal.

I thought then that he was a decent striker,,,one defiantly destined for better things.

How wrong i was.

Ask the question WHY?

I can't handle this anymore!!! Malky did not buy him, it was Tan....your entitled to blame Malky for alot of things, its the nature of management that the fans will have a pop at you, look at the ARSEnal fans calling for Wenger to quit not so long ago.

Cardiff fans should do there homework before having ago at Malky for signing Etien asit all points to an educated conlusion that he didn't

Give us proof that tan bought him, there's plenty of proof of malky saying he'd scouted him when he was at Watford.

So you think Malky would of admitted that he did not buy Etien then Bob..?? im sure he would of recieved his p45 alot quicker than he did if revealed the truth

1) Annis has said that he was informed that Malky did not buy Etien at the time by a member of the backroom staff
2) Malky has never extinguished the persisting rumour that he was not involved in his purchase
3) Etien is now moving to Tan's other club?? hmm, why was it only Etien that has been asked to move on loan?? why didn't he ask Filip Kiss if he would be interested??
4) It all suggests Tan is financially and emotionally involved in Etien's career as he wishes to save face by Etien becoming a star.

Tan buying players turned into a disaster, I do genuinely believe that because of what has happened before, Tan now accepts that taking the word of agents who are so good at sales, they could sell him a pack of crisps for 10k is NOT the way forward.

Malky is quoted in that official match day programme that he had been following Velikonja's progress for over two years, & that he had no hesitation in signing him when he had the chance to, Fact.

Who's lying? MM or the programme editor?? Would MM agree to some official quote of his being printed that was not true???

Nobody seems to by lying tbh, all that has been said by MM in the match day programme I have no reason to doubt. Malky and Iain Moody's database of players scouted around Europe and beyond would of been extensive to say the least

Re: Velikonja off to our feeder club!

I agree on that ThomasC,,,,& there lies the relevant point to all our transfers,,,they were Malky & Moody players all along. Tan was just the money man, who they advised/influenced/convinced him on certain players, & he financed the deal, not personally, but through other directors of our club.

A few years ago Tan couldn't tell the difference between a football & a blown up Durex,,,he relied heavily on others to run our club.

Just another angle on this subject, but one that, to me in any case, has certain similarities;

Start of the 12/13 season, Malky signs Velikonja in July, as our main striker for that season, even given the No 9 shirt.
It soon turns out that EV is a disappointment, so he quickly get in Nicky Maynard around the end of August, as our No 23 player.

Start of 13/14 season & were in the BIG time now. Signs Cornelius as our main striker, &, yes you guessed it, given the No 9 shirt.
It soon turns out that AC is a disappointment, so he quickly gets in Peter Odemwingie around late August, & is given the No 11 shirt.

Coincidence?

the odds are on my side when I say Annis has more contacts.
You asked me if I take Annis's word as 'gospel' but you seem to take MM's words as that!!

Its my opinion that Tan was approached by an agent of a supremely influencial agency to buy Etien..It's my opinion and there is nothing out there to convince me otherwise :ayatollah:

1)What annis says ain't gospel
2)Malky has clearly stated he was chasing etien for a while, even before he met Tan, so you think Tan just happened to want the same person as malky, bit of a coincidence wouldn't u say :?
3)He is moving him to that club because that is the area he is from and no local club will want him :thumbright:
4) Finacially involved  he paid pennies for etien compared to what he has spent on other players :laughing5:

1) did I say anyone's word was gospel?? Annis has more contacts at the club than me, you and the 99.5 majority
2) Ever heard of football agents mate ;)
3) Maybe that is true, Sarajevo is 6 hours drive to Ljublijana I checked
4) He cost 3.6 mil Euros...your statement is invalid

How do you know annis has more contacts than me? You don't know who I am
What you talking about agents, these words come out of Malkys mouth.
Like i said pennies.

the odds are on my side when I say Annis has more contacts.
You asked me if I take Annis's word as 'gospel' but you seem to take MM's words as that!!

Its my opinion that Tan was approached by an agent of a supremely influencial agency to buy Etien..It's my opinion and there is nothing out there to convince me otherwise :ayatollah:

Good on you Thomas, you stick to your guns.

Don't let facts get in the way of a great blinkered view based solely on rumour, a thirst to label Tan the devil and a need to worship the message boards hierarchy.

I thought then that he was a decent striker,,,one defiantly destined for better things.

How wrong i was.

Ask the question WHY?

Starts with M and ends with Y, Only 1 person to blame.

You clearly didn't watch Velikonja play for the development team to make such an idiotic post! :laughing6:
