Craig Noone’s stunning equaliser against Newcastle United on Saturday not only saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer celebrate his first goal as Cardiff City manager, but it marked a quite impressive comeback for the winger.
The Liverpool-born midfielder did not start the first sixteen games of the Premier League season, only breaking into the side against West Bromwich Albion, but Solskjaer suggests he will be a key player for the Bluebirds over the next few months...

Noone has really progressed in recent weeks, he is playing some really impressive football lately...

Yep, definitely. He just gives City a buzz going forward which few other players give us I think, apart from perhaps Kimbo and Mutch.
I wish he had a bit more confidence in his right foot though - sometimes I feel like the whole stadium knows he's going to cut in on his left foot. To be fair, cutting in is working for him, but he's also capable of putting in some decent crosses on his right foot!

I'm sure with all the meticulous preparation that teams do at this level that the opposition know he is going to cut inside as well, but knowing and stopping are two different things and unless they close him down quickly or double up then he'll still going to get chances. If they do close him down or double up it will leave spaces for others to exploit, it's a win win situation.

Yeh for sure. More the reason for having him in the team I think! He's 26 now and I think he will get better and better over the next two years or so. I think Solskjaer will improve his game.

If Noone started earlier the season, I reckon he would have scored a few more or assisted a few more!

I think Noone will fit perfectly in Ole's style of play, Noone is really gonna enjoy this season

Once OGS has completed his signings, I wonder if Noone might be turned into something of a super sub. The way Ole utilised him on Saturday, I'd love to see more of that.
That said, I love seeing Noone start games, shows we are going to have a go at our opponents!

He certainly increases the tempo when he comes on. I'm certain he will start against West Ham on Saturday. He could be used more as an impact sub for the visits to Man City, United and Tottenham as you say though!

The good thing about him cutting in is that it gives space for the right-back to bomb up the wing. This opens up his/the teams options considerably.

Totally agree. And fortunately City have a right-back who loves doing that in Theophile-Catherine. I reckon OGS will continue with Noone on the right in front of KTC. I think John probably needs a little bit more help defensively than Noone can offer, just while he settles in anyway.

Noone has taken his chance with both hands, been a revelation the last few weeks

Totally agree. I think crossing is a lot about putting the ball into a good area with pace and whip. Only having one target to aim at doesn't make it easy. It would be interesting to see how both Cornelius and Noone might benefit from each other's presence. A big target in the penalty area would surely make Noone's delivery look better?
