Cardiff City set for double swoop of Norwegians Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Møller Dæhli
Sunday 5th Jan 2014.

Norwegian midfield stars Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Møller Dæhl are both in Cardiff to complete medicals before finalising their transfers to the Bluebirds tonight

Norwegian webiste dagbladet says Dæhli landed at Heathrow at 3.30pm today and is now at the club's Vale Hotel training ground to complete his medical.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem looks set to be joining Cardiff City after meeting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Newcastle
Midfield starlets Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Møller Dæhli look set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first Cardiff City signings as their respective clubs have confirmed deals are close to completion.

Eikrem, 23, was pictured watching the Bluebirds' 2-1 FA Cup win at Newcastle yesterday, while his Heerenveen team mates were boarding the plane for a winter training camp in Portugal.

According to reports in Holland, his club manager Marco Van Basten today admitted: "We had to sell" the 13 times capped Norway star.

It understands the deal to be around £2m for the man who Solskjaer managed with some success at former club Molde.

More news is expected on this transfer tonight, when the Dutch legend meets the media in the Algarve but Eikrem is understood to have travelled back from Newcastle with the team yesterday.

Also, in an apparent raid on his former employers, it appears that Solskjaer is "very close" to completing a deal for youngster Mats Møller Dæhl.

The 18-year-old former Manchester United academy star is a star attacking midfielder at Molde and, according to their director Tarje Nordsrand, is close to completing a move to South Wales.

Nordsrand confirmed: "We are in talks with Cardiff and those talks are constructive.

"We have agreed on most parts of the transfer."

Norwegian webiste dagbladet says Dæhli landed at Heathrow at 3.30pm today and is now at the club's Vale Hotel training ground to complete his medical.

£2m for a young prospect is a fine gamble by Solskjaer and one the fans can accept and hopefully it pays off. £9m however on Cornelius was ridiculous. Seems like Solskjaer is happy to bring in young players for the right amounts. Also his extra pull being well known will make players more likely to force the issue and their current clubs hand. It looks promising for the future in terms of transfers. I also think if Solskjaer can prove he's shrewd in this window and we stay up then Tan will back him massively in the summer.

Spot on. This is what I was hoping would happen in the summer, like Tan said we needed 11 michus, but old Malks did not listen to Tan and pissed the money up against the wall on cornflop and Brayford

How does it feel to piss up West Ham's life savings of £15 million on a striker that doesn't play? :D

Welcome back Jimbob

I understand the criticism people give to Corno, given his price tag, but i'm still hopeful, and excited by him.
He won Denmark player of the year, he was the highest goal scorer, and was (allegedly) being looked at by other teams.
His price tag was higher because we showed interest, he won the above honours, and he is obviously highly regarded by his old club. That's not his fault.
Also the PL is a tough league to come into, a lot of players struggle at first. This lad is only 20, he's strong, he has pace and he knows how to score a few! ;) And to top it all off, he's been out for AGES with an ankle injury.

I say give him time, and in a season or 2, he will be scoring 15+ goals for us and we'll love him. Especially if we survive and we had more creative quality, that can only help too.

He's young enough to raise his game and improve on his form in Denmark. I for one, think he's going to be huge.

If i'm wrong, i'm wrong, but I'm gonna have faith! :ayatollah:

I think under Ole he has the chance to come good getting taught by someone who knows the attacking side of the game rather than someone who masters the defensive side.

I agree with you as well. Its definitely not Cornelius' fault the price tag. I also feel for the lad. Malky and Moody splashing that much on him obviously puts pressure on him regardless of what he says in the press. The fact he needed to come out and say he wasn't phased by the price tag kind of proved that he actually is. Time to get his head down under Ole and then with a bit of hard work he might actually come good.

New year was alright! The year ahead is looking good for me though thanks dude!

Yeah I think Ole will definitely improve Corno from a strikers perspective. Maybe he should go get Ruud van Nistlerooy to come coach him!!!

Great post and I agree with what you say about Corner. Looks like Ole knows what price an up and coming youngster from Scandinavia should cost. It's not Cornelius' fault Malky pissed up £8 Mill and £45K a week on him. If we paid what he was worth I bet most of the fans would be backing him and showing him a lot more patience. Like you said, give him a couple of more years and he'll be doing the business for us, especially under Ole's tutorlidge. :ayatollah:

Heerenveen coach Marco van Basten has confirmed that Magnus Eikrem is set to leave the club amid rumours the midfielder will join Cardiff City.

Eikrem was in the stands at St James' Park on Saturday as Cardiff came from behind to beat Newcastle United 2-1 in the FA Cup third round in their first game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The versatile 23-year-old worked with Solskjaer during his spell at Molde and was also coached by his Norwegian compatriot when the Cardiff boss was in charge of Manchester United's reserve side.

"It's a shame he's [Eikrem] leaving because in the final period of the first half of the season he has been important for us," Van Basten told Leeuwarden Courant.

Eikrem has scored two goals in 13 appearances since joining from Molde in June.
