Craig Conway: Cardiff City winger joins Brighton on loan

Cardiff City winger Craig Conway has joined Championship side Brighton on a three-month loan deal.
The 28-year-old, who has been capped five times by Scotland, made 27 Championship appearances during the Bluebirds' promotion season last term.
But his only appearance for them this season came as a substitute in their Capital One Cup tie at Accrington.
He will provide cover at the Amex Stadium for Andrea Orlandi, who is out for over a month after knee surgery.
"Craig is very experienced at this level and knows what it takes to be successful in the Championship," Seagulls head coach Oscar Garcia told the club website.
"He can play on either wing or up front as a second striker. He also has international experience and is a player who will improve our squad."
Conway has made a combined total of over 300 career appearances for Ayr, Dundee and Cardiff, and played for Scotland in their 3-2 defeat by England at Wembley in August.
Subject to international clearance from the Welsh Football Association, he will be available for Brighton's trip to Reading on Sunday.

Craig Conway is on route to a club to discuss a loan move, if all goes well I would expect an announcement tomorrow.

Good luck Craig, hope it works out for you :ayatollah:

David Marshall will be assessed tomorrow morning by the City fitness coaches.

Marshall was taken off at half-time for Scotland not because he was feeling pain in the hip area, the club staff are leaving it as late as possible to give Marshall every opportunity of playing against Hull.

The staff are optimistic that Marshall will be fit enough for the game.

Yes, good luck Craig. You did well for Cardiff City FC and history will always hae you down as scoring 'the' goal that got us promoted :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

On another side, I guess this all goes to show Malky's ruthless side. Craig obviously p****d Malky off last season but Malky saw he needed him in the squad, so an Olive Branch was held out and taken

Now he (Malky) feels he no longer has need for Craig, out he goes very unceremoniously :(

Move over Dave Jones; Malky has stormed the building! :malky: :ayatollah:

If he wasn't taken off by Scotland due to a hip injury, what is the problem with him?

Conway always did a good job for us and is currently our only complete winger. When I say complete winger, I mean he's the only winger who can do a job attacking and defending equally well. Conway would have still been a very useful squad member this season in my opinion, I hope he goes on loan to a good club and shows Malky what he's missing out on.

I like Conway but he is no where near premiership quality

I hope Marshall will recover in time for Hull. We desperately need him. Good luck to Conway as well. I thought he deserved a shot at this level but I guess not so farewell to him for now.

Good news that the staff are confident on David,

For Craig....I always liked Craig and am gutted for him

Good luck Craig, as mentioned above he won't be forgotten for the goal at Turf Moor :ayatollah:

Really hope Marshall is fit for Saturday. I would say he's the one player we'd miss the most.

Good luck Craig and a double-lively recovery to David.

I also wish Craig Conway the best of luck. As Sven G pointed out it shows that Malky has a very ruthless side that he will play when the time is right.

I like Conway he has a good attitude and on his day he will cause havoc for any defence in the championship. Feel sorry for him but I do hope he finds himself regular football :ayatollah:
Really hope Marshall can recover quickly then :ayatollah:

Personally believe Conway was ahead of Smith but MM's choice.

I wish Conway the best. Remember when he scored in the 3-1 win when we battered Bristol.

Also the goal v Pompey was one to remember. :ayatollah:

Conway's had a raw deal in my book. Maybe there were just too many wingers called Craig and it was getting confusing in the dressing room :D

If a club in the Championship plays him on the right hand side then he will rip opponents apart. Was limited to the cut in when he was on the left and I don't think we got the best out of him with us. Would be a great signing for anyone looking to push for promotion.

I'd have thought him going out on loan was pretty obvious after he was omitted from the squad. :laughing6:

Hoping for another play-off place and so is the chairmen but have so many top players out, Bridcutt,CMS,Orlandi,Bruno,Barnes so going to be tough but if we can get to Christmas being there or there abouts and them all back then we can push on.

Quality signing for Brighton but he's no Smith sorry. People need to wake up and Malky made the right choice. Smith is far better technically and is much better in terms of positioning which will be vital in staying compact and grinding out results this season.

Smith is another who gets flack for no reason at all. He isn't a stand out player and I'll admit that but he goes about his business like a model pro and Malky respects that.

Smith can also play as a CF. He is more versatile than Conway in that he can be used if one of our strikers gets injured and we have no back ups fit.

Craig Conway and Malky for the last 2yrs never saw eye to eye. Youve got a great signing there for the Championship without a doubt.

And just to let you know he has Passion to, Malky chased after him for 2 years to sign him, but they fell out over a personal issue and that was good bye Craig Conway.
Youve got a good capture

I do believe that after Malky was after noone for ages as well and he got a fine player, my favorite player in fact and was gutted to see him depart as he was a crowd favorite as well, the kids and everyone loved him as he got the armchair, prawn sandwich brigade of their arses and made some noice, only chocking on their prawns mind.

If Malky was after a player for 2 years then he is good. I'm happy :ayatollah:
