This is the version of Men of Harlech that is played in the stadium prior to game (the version from the film 'Zulu'), Ive seen lots of threads over a few month about more people wanting to learning the words, so im going to take to social media to give people the opportunity to do so, could be a real stand out song for us next season, please retweet and share this if you stumble across it on social media sites.
Men of Harlech stop your dreaming
Can't you see their spear points gleaming
See their warrior's pennants streaming
To this battle field
Men of Harlech stand ye steady
It cannot be ever said ye
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield
From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call
The mighty force surrounding
Men of Harlech onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these fighting words before ye
Welshmen will not yield

I think I read the club will be putting the words on the big screens too?
That would help

I learnt them when I was about 12 so there's no excuses for people not to know it.
Don't think we need the first paragraph though, you know what out fans are like for long drawn out songs

definitely would sound great if everyone sang it! maybe someone could hand out printed sheets before the game? or leave them on the seats? im sure this was done before
Thu Aug 15, 2013 11:39 am
Thank you! Me and my dad were saying we should do this. I reckon they should print out the words and hand them out at the games?

Been wanting the crowd to sing this in unison for years. It would sound immense. All of you that know it, sing it! All of you that don't know it, learn it! It takes longer to have a shit, shower and a shave!

The iconic scene.....
Could you get the same scene with them wearing Blue uniforms by any chance

Well done Gavin.
I've posted on here a couple of times about this. When the national anthem is sang by everyone before an international it sets the atmosphere.
This could do exactly the same for us.

The lyrics are so perfect for our situation in the premier league! This needs to be sung out loud!

Hopefully Annis will share the link on his social media accounts

If we could get the whole ground singing this!!!!!
Easy to learn, no need to hum.
Sing the chorus 3 times
one verse 3 lines, other verse 4 lines, simples
This would send a shiver down any opposing fans spine.
Do you hear the Cardiff sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again.
When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes.
Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade, is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight that will give you the right to be free.
Do you hear the Cardiff sing?
Singing the songs of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart, echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes
Will you give all you can give so that our banner may advance?
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France
Do you hear the Cardiff sing?
Singing the songs of angry men?
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart, echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes!

Mate people struggle to learn all the words to the original nevermind this version.
Thu Aug 15, 2013 1:36 pm
Very words to learn people are just too lazy to learn them though.
Thu Aug 15, 2013 1:40 pm
The inability to sing the words has run for years. We are too lazy to learn it especially while we still do that stupid, du du du da clap clap.
I am resigned to singing it alone in the Grange End as I have for the last few years.

Too many "Gogs" infesting this board lately.
Just saying like.

I don't currently know the words but am committed to learn thm before Man City game. We should spread this out on twitter etc as much as possible. It would be immense if the whole stadium sang it and it would knock the opposition back as well, very intimidating for them.
Just think about the Wales v England rugby game in the last 6 nations. Most of the Millenium sang the national anthem and the English team basically shat themselves bottled it and we absolutely hammered them. I know it's Rugby and not Football so don't jump on me because of that but the idea is transferrable.
Men of Harlech is our anthem and should be sung with the same pride as the national anthem.
Thu Aug 15, 2013 1:52 pm
Put it on the TV's and the club should give out song sheets at the first few games. Once most keep it up then the others will join on. The problem is getting people to get it going as a thing.

too slow and drawn out?
What about 'You'll never Walk alone"
When youuuu waaaaaaaaaalk
through a storrrrrrm
hoooold your haaaaaaaandds
up highhhhhhhhhhh
Seems slow and drawn out but their fans don't care - it is what makes Liverpool, Liverpool
Perhaps we could introduce somthing camp like "I'm forever blowing bubbles" if you want cheery?

A youtube video with song and lyrics would probably help, is such a thing available. I'm at work so can't look on youtube at the moment.
Thu Aug 15, 2013 2:16 pm
More than half our supporters couldn't lean the word to happy birthday .

Better suggestion from "007" - more personal to Cardiff and only change a few words -
Men of
Harlech could be replaced by Fans of Cardiff (not to be sexist - heavens forbid !!!)
Fans of Cardiff stop your dreaming
Can't you hear their voices screaming
See their warrior pennants streaming
To this football-field
Fans of Cardiff stand ye steady
It cannot be ever said ye
For the battle we’re not ready
Welshmen never yield
From the hills rebounding (clap clap)
Let this song be sounding (clap clap)
Summon all the Bluebirds call
The mighty force surrounding
Fans of Cardiff on to glory
This will ever be your story
Keep these burning words before ye
Welshmen will not yield Blooobirds

Not a football chant at all
