Tom Ince is agonising over an £8million move to Cardiff and is ready to keep the Barclays Premier League newcomers waiting before deciding on his future.
Blackpool’s England under-21 midfielder has finally travelled to South Wales for talks with manager Malky Mackay, almost a week after agreement was reached over personal terms and a fee.
But if that raised hopes of an imminent breakthrough for Mackay, in his pursuit of his main summer transfer target, Sportsmail understands the son of Blackpool manager Paul Ince is likely to ask for more time to think over his next step.
Though there are no qualms over the financial side of the deal, Ince is believed to be reluctant to commit himself to Cardiff after being strongly linked with the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool.
Liverpool did their utmost to take him back to Anfield in the January window, but were unable to agree a fee, while Tottenham have so far failed to follow up their initial interest.
Hopes that Everton might enter the race have failed to materialise, while Swansea were also considering an approach. Mackay is striving to convince Ince to become the focal point of a new-look Cardiff midfield, but there are growing suggestions he may return to Bloomfield Road and bide his time, ahead of the window shutting at the end of next month.
