So what are we looking at should he leave for Everton? What kind of football does he play, what formation, does he like youth or more experienced players? Do you think he'd be a success at Everton?

Thanks for the reply Eric![]()
What could we expect is Malky took over at Everton? Is he a defensively minded manager, or does he prefer open attacking football? Do you play on the deck or direct?
Does he play kids or 30+ players?

Don't worry it's fine, you're curious, as would any other fan when wondering about who their new long term succesor is.
Malky's a new breed of a manager, he doesn't really care how games are won, he just cares that their is fight from the players and completing the tasks he sets out. He'll get the players to appreciate the fans even more, he doesn't take any laid back tossers who think they're better than him, example being Anthony Gerrard, had to keep him first season as we had to rebuild but he was straight out that door when a club came calling. He's stuck with 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 for quite a long time but towards the end of this season he changed into a 4-3-3 formation, dropping talisman Peter Whittingham(surprising to PL fans who rate him highly) He likes a mix of experience and youth but his signings are predominantly youth, he thinks a lot about the future of the club, he doesn't think just for the next week, he thinks for the long term future for the club. I think with Everton, he'd go for the younger players as he wants to blend them in at the right time. As mentioned he doesn't play amazingly attractive football but we have seen glimpses of how well we can play.
Personally if he does go I hope the pressure doesn't get to him, with him having the club's future on his shoulders this season, he succeeded with flying colours, the question is what do you class as success? Continued top six finishes, getting to finals but missing? I don't think he's a top four manager by any means but I like how he thinks for the future. I'd be devastated to see him go as he really has this club in his heart after joining all those months ago and it'd be gutted to see all his work thrown down the drain if we go for someone like Mark Hughes

A lot of times this season we've scored from set pieces, we're also a counter attacking team too. Some times he makes the mistake of shutting up shop too early, we've lost a few points this season from Malky bringing on defensive substitutes. I don't think we're a hoofing team but we're not reluctant to putting it up top to a target man.

Great reply... thanks for this!
Tbh you could have just been decribing Moyes with everything written there... sounds almost like a replica and I can imagine for the same reasons Man U went for Moyes that we might go for your manager.
Success is hard to gauge really for us... Moyes has never won anything with us but has had us in the right half of the table all but one season and got us to a semi final and final in recent years. Many fans would take 12th place and a cup and many would accept no cups for continued high(ish) placed finishes.
I think from what you've said I could see Malky doing well but maybe not pushing us on to the 'next level', but long term could be a wise choice if he is indeed in the Moyes mould.
Thanks again for the info

First of all its Malky Mackay.
He is a very young manager in the game and has a good future ahead of him. He makes the team play consistent football whether it be stylish or not. He has played 442, 451 or more effectively 433 with us. He likes a blend of youth and experience and is always on the look out for players for the future as he has brought in Kadeem Harris, Joe Mason and Rhys Healy for the future with us. If he was to go to Everton (which I hope he doesn't) he probably would be a success. That is because he can get players for very cheap prices and are still quality e.g Joe Mason for us. He would also get rid of all egos in the squad and make the squad consistently perform.
PS- Get Laudrup instead!

MM is not just a professional manager but in my opinion is a "Modern Manager" with great media skills and nowadays that's priceless. A true fans manager and despite having to deal with all the fallout from our new owner wanting his "Lucky Red" kit MM has been the glue which has bonded this club together like no other manager in my 48 years watching the Bluebirds.
In both his seasons with us we only lost 9 games, in each season, which for us is a club record in a 46 game season. That should tell you that his teams are organised and very difficult to beat. In both his seasons with us we scored the first goal in a game more often than any other club and that fact together with the very organised way his teams are set up have delivered the promotion we have been looking for for so many years.
Being organised doesn't mean being defensive and MM has set up teams in any mix of 4-5-1, 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 in games and much depends on who we have been playing.
Above anything else I believe MM will win over Everton fans just by being himself because he is a real "Fans" manager and always shows complete respect to supporters and after Dave Jones that is such a huge change.
If he does get the job just give him a chance because in my opinion he has it in him to be the next great manager. I really think he is that good and although I'll be gutted if he does go I will understand because he will be going to a club who can give him a chance of competing at the top end of the Premier League.
That's where he belongs.

No problem, Malky is a underrated manager in my eyes, Dave Jones completely ruined this club and Malky had to recruit a whole team in a month, I think we spent 2-4m on players in his first season, he recruited extremely well, reaching the final and getting sixth place in a tough Championship.
I agree he does remind me of Moyes, the thing is with Malky, he won't take failure lightly. A club like Everton need to be trying to do what they done around about 2004/2005?, finishing 4th! I know Liverpool got the CL spot in the end but Everton are a big club and you'll agree that the next appointment will be vital. I rate Moyes as a manager but I have my doubts about him, to say he's not been backed I don't agree with, he has been backed just the bigger clubs have been backed even more.
Exactly he may not push you onto the next level but he'll sort of carry on from Moyes job, the key is to not sell a heap load of players because that just adds more expectation to bring in the right players. Malky can work within a budget but he's not going to want to accept the same position every year, he's going to want to improve year after year.
Personally I feel you should move for the Porto manager, Pierrera I think? Experienced in Europe and what not. He's the type of man that will get you to the next level.

One other thing I would add is his attention to detail. It is well known down here that before signing any new player he will have had his staff compile a detailed dossier on that player, including personality, social life, work commitment etc. down to the last inch. He will not allow at any cost egos in a dressing room. You're either in it for the team or you can f**k off.
How that will sit with already established Premier players I don't know, but he constantly states about leaving egos at the door. Cross that line and you will be gone.
That ethos permeates throughout all his staff and he sees it as vital to what he is trying to achieve.
I hope he doesn't leave as I think it's a bit too early, but if he does he goes with my blessing and gratitude for what he achieved with us.![]()
