FAO older bluebirds

silly question time

i was born in 94 so missed all the gloom days where we were in div 4 ... but even though we are on the verge of playing in the prem, i would of loved to have been around when we were low down in the leagues, to me away days to smaller sides are a better laugh, so question's are;

are you finally glad that we'll soon be a premier league team and wont have to go to shitty grounds for a while ?
or
happy that were doing so well butt will really miss them days of div 4 and the lower leagues etc ?

(dont take this a way of me saying i hope we dont go up  just genuinely interested in peoples opinions :ayatollah: )

Put it this way people like gwyn, annis and myself remember going to watch us at wigans old ground Springfield in the dungeon.
The away end was basically railway sleepers embedded in mud and open to the elements so I doubt anybody would want to go back to those days.
Kids of today have never had it so good

People look back on the old days with fond memories, those days are gone, going back to small clubs would be totally different, some of the most edgey policing I have seen this year has been at Macclesfield and Northampton.

In the old days the policing intelligence surveilence etc was nominal if not existent, and turning up in huge mobs and riding rough shod over areas shops pubs and services may have seemed fun, but it wasn't fun for those on the receiving end and had to change.

Life in general has changed, not just football, don't live in the past or aim to go back there, just enjoy the present and the future, because that will soon be your past.

Not a silly question mate.

30 odd years watching City I've had and the old days really WERE the best in my eyes. Yes
a lot of the away games back then were linked to scrapping and getting stuck in but we
were together. We had a cameraderie that just isnt there nowadays. We would all end up
in the same pubs, getting pissed up, going for a wander. Then the game? Darlington, Crewe,
Halifax, Torquay... some of the shittiest places imaginable, but it was the day out with
the lads that mattered. Obviously, on the odd occasion when we won it was cosmic  but
on the whole, win or lose??... we were all City fans together. Now? Well if im being honest
it seems fans complain a lot more now about the team, the players, the grounds, the manager
the Chairman. Premier League? Well I'm not particularly looking forward to it now. Modern
Football is ruining the whole day out. Dont stand, dont sing, dont swear. Football was a working
class game... its been taken away from people like me. The harsh reality is that the authorities
would sooner see a woman or a small child sat in my seat. Thats all well and good. But it has
killed the atmosphere, in MY opinion... its killed the game for working class males :D

Great times and great memories absolutely shit myself at times being chased by Chelsea at home, 3 visits to Millwall and survived to tell the tale :D Grounds like Lincoln, Newport, Mansfield, Hereford, Stockport ans Scarborough all now no longer in the league.

As others said fantastic times with the Valley Rams, Ipswich away when all the booze was locked in the bog and when a Copper wanted to search the bus he was told the lock was broke and if he forced the door the toilet was over flowing with all sorts

Those days have gone and would I want to go back the answer is no! Although i would love to travel with the Valley Rams again I hope we get to the Premiership and would love for it to happen because it's the only Division where I haven't watched City. However if we get there I probably wouldn't be able to afford to go away to often although there are certain grounds i want to visit and will do my best to get there :old: :ayatollah:

One of my lasting memories was travelling to Hudders old ground (Leeds Road) for a midweek match only 70 of us were there in the middle of a yorkshire winter and the police still kept us behind after the game and escorted us onto the buses. Yes we lost. Wins in those days were few and far between and we celebrated a win like a cup final victory.

Brilliant times!
