Formation with Campbell?

Mon Jan 21, 2013 9:14 pm

You have to assume Campbell will start when fit. If MM goes with helguson up front with him, that's bellers and noone on the wings?

So no place for Kim, Conway, Smith, Mason, Gestade?

Or can smith and Campbell play together up front?

Interesting options now and no end of permutations for MM to ponder with the flexibility we have in the squad :malky: :ayatollah:

if Malky decides to cut out the hoofball and play it on the floor we could either play the 4-5-1 with campbell up front on his own, with Noone and Bellamy on the flanks! or the 4-4-2 with Bellamy and Campbell playing together!

atleast the addition of Campbell now gives us plenty of options :malky:

I think he will go straight up front with heidur
bellamy on the left , noone right whitts and either smith or gunnar centre

But i would love to see this in 1 game and see what happens

MCNAUGHTON-----HUDSON----TURNER-------TAYLOR

---SMITH-------------GUNNARSSON----------WHITTS---

----NOONE-------------CAMPBELL--------BELLAMY ------

options are there... things can be changed, and different players can come in to suit the oppositions tactics.

Would have played instead of mason v Blackpool, instead of Gestede against Ipswich. Malky won't change the system.

this could work.. maybe kim for noone..

From what I've heard and seen Campbell seems to play best off the shoulder of anther striker so this suggests him and Helguson.

However if he likes this set up because of the service he receives, he will be pretty happy up front alone with Bellamy, Noone and Whittingham behind him threading him balls.

This or

Marshall
Conolly Hudson Turner Taylor
Gunnarson Mutch Whitts
Smith Campbell Bellamy

Or

Marshall
Conolly Hudson Turner Taylor
Conway Gunnarson Whitts Bellamy
Helgusson Campbell

Great options for us of have. :malky:

You'd imagine Campbell playing with Helguson, but Helguson hasn 't started now for 4 or 5 games so who knows?

I can see us mixing it up home & away, Noone seems to be favoured home with Kim away, will this be changed now with Bellamy possibly starting wide?

Will Tommy Smith go back on right or will he stay through middle where he was excellent against Blackpool, I think maybe he will stay there for Leeds, maybe with Bellamy and Campbell coming off bench.

So many options and haven't mentioned Conway or Mason either? Or Rudy!

I think he will go 4-4-2 for a few games before moving to 4-5-1

I'd love to see a 433 with Campbell, Noone and Bellamy up front.

The pace in that attack would rip teams apart.

I could see that happening.
Problem I seen with that earlier in the season is the "wide" players have such a work ethic that they drop to deep and it ends up in a deep 4-5-1

Re: Formation with Campbell?

Bellamy on the wing is not cutting it for me.

I've seen some great fullbacks in this division and Bellamy attacking and chasing CBs down is more the style.

It will be intresting but it is exicting! :ayatollah:

Re: Formation with Campbell?

Why not just play a simple 4-4-2 with Campbell and Bellers up top.

We just need to adapt our play to suit these 2 up top by trying to pass it out from the defence through the midfield rather than playing long balls from the defence that both Campbell and Bellers will probably lose in the air.

However, whatever the partnership or formation that Malky decides to play, we have a scary amount of options at our disposal now! :malky:

BELLAMY IS NOT A 'STRIKER' He's a winger.

Play Craig wide on the left.

Stick Campbell up top with Smith.

Tommy may not be quite as strong as Helguson but he is a thinking footballer
and I think could get a pretty good partnership going with Frazier. Sunderland
tried Campbell up top on his own, he is not big enough for that role. Have him
hanging off the shoulder of the last defender and he'll score bags of goals

Not sure i agree.
Bellamy rarely showed good form playing wide for Cardiff.

It's the options that I'm excited about. Smith, Bellers and even Mason can go wide as well as up front, plus our natural wingers in Conway and noone. Then there's Kim and Cowie who can play central or wide.

Of course each has a more effective position but the options are there.

Not to mention Maynard and velonkonja!

Wingers for the other team often help out and double team on Bellamy so if you can get him behind the defenders or maybe the ball to him running at the defenders then he is more of a threat.

I think you are wrong about Bellamy. All his best performances for us have come when he's played up front. But I do agree that a smith/Campbell partnership could be very good. Nice options to have

Problem I see is defensively, Bellamy, certainly under DJ did less tracking back, so is it a wonder we slated Naylor, for basically being caught 2 on 1. In a 433/451 the midfield can cover. But then under Malky Bellamy has chased everything so maybe it would be less of an issue. But the Taylor, good full back. But defensively not as potent as attacking.

Re: Formation with Campbell?

If Bellamy resorts to the wing then it means he has to track back a lot.. considering his on going problems with injury etc that would maybe not see him get 90 minutes a week which I think he can get in a tight schedule of games.

Re: Formation with Campbell?

Mon Jan 21, 2013 11:13 pm

Can see Bellamy being rested more now to keep him fit for the run in. If he plays outwide i cant see noone starting

Re: Formation with Campbell?

Bellamy is obviously class but NOT a natural finisher. Thats my point. Give him a freer role
or whatever, but he's not a box player

WOAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Fraizer Campbell will score goals, every chance that he gets, he puts the ball in the net, Fraizer Campbell will score goals :malky:
