" LATEST NEWS - UPDATED FRIDAY 25th May"

Thu May 24, 2012 5:05 pm

UPDATED - The leaking of the name Jay Rodriguez did not come from Cardiff City but from an agent involved with the player, the agent knew City were preparing a bid this week and got the story out in the press to alert other clubs.

Cardiff City will put the bid in today for Rodriguez and I understand that it is higher than the £5.5m that has been in the press.

Jay Rodriguez has been the name on most City fans lips in recent days, it has been known by some for 2 weeks that the club were lining up a bid for Rodriguez, the club has not yet made a bid and the story got out in the national press before any bid was made, I am told the club will make an official approach and a club 'transfer record' bid for Rodriguez tomorrow.

There has been talk, on this message board in particular, about those fans who purchased season tickets to attain a ticket for Wembley and then not actually paying any money towards the season ticket, the club has started the process of taking action against these fans, firstly letters are being sent out to those fans to remind them of the fact they applied fr season tickets and will ask them to pay their money, if the club do not get satisfactory responses from those people then I understand the club will 'blacklist' these fans and they will certainly miss out on any future big games where they may try and get tickets using their name and address.

I wrote a couple of weeks ago that if West Ham got promoted then they would make a bid for Ben Turner, I was told again today that West Ham will definitely make an approach for Turner and a multi million pound bid will be tabled to test City's resolve on a player who only cost £750k less than a year ago.

LEWIS AGREES DEAL WITH CARDIFF CITY
Fri 25 May 2012

As of Friday morning, we can confirm that former Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis has agreed to sign a contract with Cardiff City.
Twenty-four year old Joe - a former England under-21 international - has put pen to paper on a deal that will commence as of July 1st 2012.
Joe made a hundred and ninety appearances for the Posh between 2008 and 2012 after signing with the Cambridgeshire-based club from Norwich City. He will now link up with former Norwich colleague David Marshall, who committed himself to Cardiff City earlier this week with a three year contract extension.

Away pre-season fixture dates confirmed so far

Love to see us sign him,but cant see it with all the premiership teams interested.

Any truth in the Gabbidon stuff?

Seemed to be 2+2=10 from the media.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:10 pm

We must keep Ben Turner, simple

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:14 pm

Keep turner, Gerrard can go for around £500k. Then make a bid for Rodriguez and a winger then we'll be fine IMO :ayatollah:

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:19 pm

Take the money for Turner and get Chambers in from Forest plus Gabbidon as back up.Use the money made from Turner to get some pace upfront and wide :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

We will see how serious the club are about building on last years fine start in the next couple of weeks. If we are to strengthen our squad then we certainly need to hang on to our best players also.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:24 pm

Letting any of our first team players go would be a massive mistake in my opinion,we need to add to this very good team malky has assembled not take away from it
Cant see rodriguez coming to cardiff unfortunately, but actually putting in a bid for a highly rated player shows a level of ambition which is very pleasing

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

If the figures are true about what we are about to offer Burnley for Rodriguez then it show us fans that the Malaysians mean business with this club.

All good news except for Ben Turner.

We can't afford to let Ben go. He is a fantastic talent.

If City really mean business then if Westham bid for Turner, we turn them down flat. :ayatollah:

Gutted about Turner but not surprised,
Think him and Hudson had a great season. Shame to c him go if he does. Will we give in to the Hammers asking price?

Be nice to see a bid go in tomorrow for Jay :ayatollah:

Let's hope the first of many :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

i really hope we don't sell turner, but at the end of the day if west ham comes up with a decent enough offer i think it's safe to say he'll go :( , and rodriguez would be a cracking signing, but with all the premiership intrest i can't see it happening myself :? just hope malky has the funds he's been promised :? :ayatollah:

If we have £5million to bid on a player without any player sales then I can't see an offer being accepted for any of our stars.

Malky has already come out and said that Whitts will not be leaving as he is under contract, I doubt that it will be different with Ben.

what is our current record transfer fee and who was it?

Can't help but see the positives! :ayatollah:

My only concern with Rodriguez is that I believe he will only leave Burnley for a Premier League club. Burnley is his hometown club. This is where Malky can work his magic!

I am guessing the Joe Lewis deal is done but being signed?

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:40 pm

Trouble is ben turner might want to leave if premiership club comes in for him.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 5:49 pm

The Turner bid is from a premiership team, the club have to take the players thoughts into consideration. It's no need refusing bids if the player ends up aliented by the club.

It will be up to the club to make it worth Turner's while to stay OR come to an agreement that he can go ata certain price.

Turner got a three year deal

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/14716779

Didn't reach 15 games in the previous two seasons, made 33 this season. Wonder if he had a clause about a new deal if he made a certain amount of appearances.

I start to worry when I read stuff like this.

You are going to make a bid or you are not, how does a national paper get the story ? From within the club or the agent leaking it to the press to get the fee up ? This deal won't happen, I doubt we will over pay.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 6:01 pm

yep,for me keeping a player against his will can never be a good thing, but if ben is happy and wishes to stay we should tell them to do one :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

I hope turner stays but if he goes then at what price? Matt mills went to Leicester from reading for about 5m. Is he any better than turner? Probably not.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

I would sell Turner if a decent offer comes in, there's plenty better out there who are cheaper or even free.

Hudson and Turner are too slow, good in the air and thats about it.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 7:06 pm

Another PR stunt by the owners i see , we do need to keep turner also but if he wants to go then he will be sold :ayatollah:

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Thu May 24, 2012 7:13 pm

Hopefully this club record bid for Rodriguez is not due to the Turner bid being more advanced than we know bringing in millions to fund it. Will need to find a replacement CB but can pick them up far cheaper than top forwards.

Re: " LATEST NEWS "

Piss take by West Ham.
Ben Turner has a great future with us and I think hes going to be a big star and can see him playing for the likes of Sunderland, Everton, Fulham. I reckon if he keeps fit and continues he can be worth 7/8million! :ayatollah:
