Bluebirds unite tells its members

Bluebirds unite

It's this simple !
Either you give a Toss about supporting a football team because of allegiance to support your local club that you feel an affiliation with or you don't care who you watch or support as long as their in the Premiership !

I think the argument of keeping quiet so Tan doesn't get scared off is starting to become a bit tired & weak.....

That said guys we still don't want to use this group as a ground to issue threats or slag off individuals please keep that in mind when you are wording your posts.

Thanks a lot
Sian Branson

I've got to say, it claims that people shouldn't slag off fans, but then makes a crass generalisation that all pro-red fans are only interested in premiership football.

Not a great statement.

So, members are being "told" now and not asked?

spot on barry, ive got no problem with sian but the wording of her statements needs to be addressed a lot better if she wants bu to gain more fans imo

More nonsense.
They really are getting embarrassing.

Re: Bluebirds unite tells its members

Chris, you know my stance on the rebrand, but for me any BU statement needs to be encouraging reluctant people to join and strengthen BU, statements that antagonise "reluctant reds" are doing exactly the opposite.

Bluebirds Unite is dead.

The self destruct button has been well and truly pressed.

Always knew this day would come.

Re: Bluebirds unite tells its members

It's a shame, BU had a good core of people and could have built on that but now all they seem to want to do is alienate fans.

Like many other fans I have supported and had an allegiance to the club for many many years, so like many of course I give a toss, but none of us should feel guilty about finally having the chance to see us play on the biggest stage in the best league in the world. But again like many others, my allegiance and loyalty to the club is about far more than a colour or a badge, seen plenty of badges in my time, and that is what they are badges.

I genuinely feel sorry for people who's allegiance is based around a colour or badge, to me that is just a small part of my sense of belonging, they are my local club, they are Cardiff City, they are the Bluebirds, but again that is just part of the bigger picture and titles, badges and name tags will never affect my sense of belonging, would you love your son less if he changed his hair colour, changed his name, changed his sexuality even, he'd still be your son, even if he had the operation and became your daughter.

What if they weren't Cardiff City anymore Gwyn, or they weren't the Bluebirds anymore? Not looking for a bite, genuinely interested in your stance on Tan's latest musings.

Re: Bluebirds unite tells its members

Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:48 pm

I would like to second Barry's question Gwyn, what would your stance be if we were to change to Cardiff Dragons?

Genuine question. :ayatollah:

Re: Bluebirds unite tells its members

Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:48 pm

Red, blue, pink with polka dots, Cardiff City is still OUR local club, that WE as a community, should feel proud of and get behind whatever the name or colour.

The fact my 3 kids have pride in supporting a club that embraces everyone, rather than a narrow minded minority, is something that I for one am immensly happy about. Premiership football now ensures that kids will be more inclined to support our club rather the big 4-6 clubs that they all used to follow in the years when Cardiff attracted nobody other than the hoolies or the eternally optimistic, of which I was one.

I hate the changes imposed by Tan, but I love the fact that he has hopefully ensured our club will be around for generations to come and that it will now have a far more positive impact on Cardiff (the city) than anything that went before.

Having overheard the opinions of Sian Branson in conversations, it's clear she views a huge proportion of Cardiff City fans with contempt, just because they don't all share BU's ideals.

MOST Cardiff City fans just love getting behind their local club and simply don't care about anything else other than having a communal supportive experience, with like minded mates and sharing thoughts about the game with mates over a pint.

Start looking at the positives and stop looking back with rose tinted nostalgia.

Telling fans they have an either/or choice is stupidity in the extreme. Individual fans have plenty of options and most of them don't revolve around what BU want them to do.

2Blue above makes a brilliant point when says BU started with a good cause but have done nothing but alienate fans who fall into the 'reluctant red' category, the very fans they NEED to convince if they are ever going to succeed.

Sian you have many qualities (the courage to take up the leadership of BU is one), but the ability to connect with fans outside of your bubble is DEFINATELY not one of them.

Re: Bluebirds unite tells its members

Same as if my son changed his name from James to Jamelia, still my son and wouldn't love him any less, can't see how anyone's love for someone or something is based around a name, a colour a badge or whatever.

Can't imagine, and would dread to think what it would take for me to lose my love for the club, and it's not just a club is it, always been far more than a club. :old:

And that bubble is getting smaller and smaller and one day after more of this nonsense it'll pop.

What a strange post. We're talking about a football club. What is its identity in your opinion then?

Oh dear Sian I think you may have just blown BU right out of the water this time.
It is now getting a little childish.

Childish is the exact word I would use for it.

I would now say it's even boarding on bullying from some of the stuff I've read.

Fair enough Gwyn. I was only asking. You are entitled to your views as much as the next fan. Everyone grew up supporting for their own reasons. Some supported other clubs first, others supported due to their family being die hard bluebirds, others fought for the club believing it was the right thing, others looked on hooliganism as bad for the club back then.

Everyone is different.

For me John, it is the fact that it represents the City of Cardiff in the football league.

In your opinion. Strange there's opposition to retaining our identity just because a rich man opened his wallet - if he really did, of course.

I can't answer for Gwyn but personally I would be saddened at a name change, but would accept it if it secured our future. If we really did have to change I would suggest Cardiff Canton (keeps the CCFC) and it would be an appeal to the Cantonese Chinese (I think there about half a billion of them).

That said if BU got its act together and learned to walk before it ran, it could get enough opposition to head off a name change. But for that to happen it would need to change first.

Not a clue John to be honest.
We played Hull yesterday who themselves have just had a name change. We still played a team who represent Hull though.
We Played Hull in the City of Hull. Who ever we play will still be playing Cardiff (no matter what anyone thinks)and will want to turn us over in every game.
