He's a captain of a country playing on the world stage with the best defensive stats in the best league in the world. Not much more to say.

I'm not sure how anyone can say Michu isn't world class.

firstly, you are talking about players who havent played at the highest level, personally i dont think anyone who hasnt played against europes finest can be called world class.

Williams might well move on and do well, however there are defenders at teams in the top 4 i wouldnt define as world class so this is by no means a yardstick. At present he is the captain of nothing more or less than a mid table premier league team.

Michu has had a good season, but its just 1, and he has been flagging for a few months now. if he comes back next season and scores 20+ goals next season ill agree with you.

the term 'world class' gts thrown about too easily.

the fact that Williams is captain of Wales means nothing.

I have. You use the fact that Williams is playing for his country on the world stage is prt of the reason for being "world class" - yet then say the fact that Michu hasn't played international football doesn't make any difference. :laughing6:

I gave it as "part" of the reason, not "the" reason. I wasn't basing my opinion solely in his international caps.

The reason Williams is world class is the fact he has the best defensive stats in the best league in the world. Simple as that.

As for Michu he's unfortunate to be Spanish that play one striker and their midfield includes xabi alonso, iniesta, xavi and silva.

Exactly - those examples are players that a World Class, not Michu. He's very good, excellent in fact. Still, not world class.

Illogical for you maybe. For me, it's illogical that a player can be described as world class, yet has no international caps.

You have just said your opinion on the standard of the league yet dressed it up as fact.

The premier league is described widely as the best league in the world, Williams has been the best performer to date. He's world class simple as that.

As we have established, basing your opinion on Michu on one mans opinion is silly really. He'd stroll into most international sides in the world, he currently has xabi, xavi, silva and xabi alonso to oust in the national set up. There's politics in Spanish international management and calling up a player from Swansea to oust a player from Barca would be a brave move.

He's the highest scoring Spanish player in all top leagues and was highest scoring midfielder of any nationality in la liga last year (of which I assume you think is the best league in the world). Alex ferguson amongst other top rated managers and pundits alike believe he is world class and his stats back that notion up.

You are entitled to your opinion of course but you can't really deny performance based facts.

I never post when I see Paxman included in the thread as I believe he's a pretentious fake and to be honest I believe he talks shite often.

I'll make an exception today....... I have always believed Ashley Williams to be over rated. Because Liverpool rate him that doesn't mean we all should. If my memory is correct didn't Liverpool pay over the odds for another swansea town player and what became of him exactly?

Best league in the world? lol ....let's skip Spain eh? (Germany closing in fast)

As for Michu.....a great first season, it can't be all luck but hardly world class.

As for swandea town in general, a great season for them but let's see what comes next season......another new manager, palyers leaving? Let's keep Newcastle in mind from last season.

I for one am glad City and town will be in the premiership and both stay up. Anything to keep "chase the egg" in the shade!

Haven't heard one pundit describe him in this way. They've praised him, he totally deserves it too, but nothing like "world class". The Spanish manager clearly doesn't fancy him that much though. Give you that much Paxman you don't half grind it out.

Yes Chelsea are the present European champions but the Chelsea of today that played the Jacks are a different side. It was Drogba that saved them in that game and went on to win it for them. Drogba is no longer at Chelsea so you can't really say the Jacks beat the European champions can you because it was not the same team.

You can use facts to suit your argument.

ive tried to deal in facts the best I can. I don't see where I've dressed opinion up as fact, not to a point where it would deter from the point of discussion.

The premier league is described widely as the best league in the world, Williams has been the best performer to date. He's world class simple as that.

Again, more opinions dressed up as facts. I think it's widely accepted that the premier league isn't what it was 5/6 years ago.

that's not opinion. Opta have him as the best defender in the premier league this season based on tackles and interceptions. Whether you believe the premier league is the best or second best league in the world doesn't really matter, he's the best performing defender in it.

As we have established, basing your opinion on Michu on one mans opinion is silly really. He'd stroll into most international sides in the world, he currently has xabi, xavi, silva and xabi alonso to oust in the national set up. Still, those players are world class and it would be unlikely that he would "oust" one of them anyway. Big difference between an excellent player like Michu & world class talent like the other names mentioned.

the only difference I see is del bosque giving them a call up. Their performances don't suggest there is a difference at all. Look at silva and look at Michu as they are both in the same league. Michu has out performed silva yet doesn't get a call up, probably based in the fact he doesn't play for one of the big guns. That's very dismissive to think that it's due to his lack of talent. If it was then he wouldn't be sat just behind van oersie and Suarez in the scoring charts and the highest scoring Spanish player in any of the top leagues.

He's the highest scoring Spanish player in all top leagues and was highest scoring midfielder of any nationality in la liga last year (of which I assume you think is the best league in the world). Do you disagree chuckles? Surprised by that to be honest.

Ashley Williams is probably the best Center back in the league at the moment and is the subject of a £10 million bid by arsenal and Liverpool. Michu is the highest scoring Spanish players in any of the top leagues and widely tipped for a call up to the most successful international side in the history of football. Only Suarez and van Persie has scored more than him in the premier league.

As for smalling, Dawson lescott and Ferdinand being better than Williams... I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Good shout with Cahill, but he's still behind Williams in terms of tackles won %, blocks and interceptions %.

1) Michael Vorm is wanted by Barca and was one of the best ( in fact I think the best) performing goalkeeper last season, injury has kept him out this season.

2) Williams is the best performing defender in the premier league and is the subject of £12m interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

3) Michu, on the verge if a call up to the most successful international side in history. Was top midfield goalscorer in la liga last year, 3rd highest goalscorer in the Prem this year and highest scoring Spanish player in any top flight.

Speaks for itself.
