LUCIEN FAVRE

If Malky were to be relieved of his duties then I would love to employ this guy.

Anyone who has a keen interest in Bundesliga will know who I am talking about. :malky:

His Monchengladbach side are one of the best counter attacking teams I have witnessed outside the elite of europe.

Very organised and switches defence to attack very quickly.

I was based in Moenchengladbach (Rheindahlen) for 4 years and always used to enjoy their brand of football, although they fell away for many years and have only become more competitive in the last couple of years!

They regularly used to hold a 4 team tournament in the Summer and this was when I saw them play most often, as I was playing in a league myself at the time!

Jupp Heynckes was the manager when I used to watch them! :old: :)

He is doing ok but I dont think he is the messiah he is made out to be.

I dont think he deserves the sack but then I wont be "rioting" as the songs says if he does.

At the very least we might get a manger in whos philosophy isnt to hoof it to a lone isolated striker.

Never said you were and I can only just remember him playing :) but:-

Josef "Jupp" Heynckes (German pronunciation: [jʊp haɪnkəs]; born 9 May 1945) is a former German football manager and former footballer. As a player, he spent the majority of his career as a striker for Borussia Mönchengladbach in its golden era of the 1960s and 1970s, where he won many national championships and the DFB-Pokal, as well as the UEFA Cup. During this period the team also played in its only European Cup final in 1977, losing to Liverpool. He is the third highest goalscorer in the history of the Bundesliga, with 220 goals. He was a member of the West German national squad that won the European Championship and the World Cup in the first half of the 1970s. As manager he won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich and two UEFA Champions Leagues; with Real Madrid in 1997–98 and Bayern in 2012–13.

I like their left back - Oscar Wendt - Swedish International.

Gets forward well and has scored 3 goals this season.

Herrmann and Max Kruse are decent attackers for them, would love us to go in for Herrmann.

Great striker when he plays but he is not getting in the team, not sure why he might not be performing or whatever.

Before the Villa game he was being linked with a loan move to Newcastle, so something doesn't add up for him at Monchengladbach.

He was class when I watched him for FC Twente. As you say, something doesn't add up.

Cost them over 10 million and he haven't hit 10 goals for them and I guess Favre doesn't really seem him in his plans or isn't a big fan of him.

Cant say ive watched much of them, just dribs and drabs in highlights but the kid Håvard Nordtveit, was massively rated at arsenal, 6'2" mobile and can play a a bit.

The keeper is rated massively in europe aswell.

Good strong team they have.

Re: LUCIEN FAVRE

He sounds a great option and possibly a masterstroke signing as Pochettino was at Saints.

But I really, really hope we stick with Malky who I believe to be one of the top young managers in Britain.
